Where is free assembly available?
- All Academy Stores: You can get free assembly on eligible items at any Academy Sports + Outdoors store.
- Online Orders with In-Store Pickup: If you order online and choose in-store pickup, you can often request free assembly when you pick up your item.
Which categories are restricted for certain payment types?
Most of the specialty payment types are ineligible for purchases like Firearms and Ammo due to restrictions from the payment providers.
Installment loans with Bread Pay are eligible for the following categories/departments (subject to change):

Cancellations
Our team processes orders shortly after customers place one. You’ll have a short period of time to cancel or modify your order once you place it on Academy.com. We cannot guarantee exactly how much time you’ll have at this time.
What items and orders are eligible for cancellation?
Shipping, Same Day Delivery & Bulk Delivery orders are eligible to be canceled by item or by order while the order is being prepared. Once the order is ready to ship or be delivered, the order is no longer eligible for cancellations. Please reference the Return Policy for more information if you no longer need the item(s).
Store Pick Up orders are eligible for item and order level cancellation while the order is being prepared. Once the order is packed and ready for the customer to pick up, only the entire order can be canceled.
How do I cancel an item or Order on Web with an Account?
- Sign in to your myAcademy account.
- Locate the order in the purchases tab.
- You can select Cancel Item or Cancel Order from the Order Details page.
Please note the option to request cancellation will only appear for items that have yet to be processed for shipping.
Choose a cancellation reason, then select Submit. These details help us find ways to improve your online shopping experience.

How do I cancel an item or Order on Web (No Account)?
- Go to the Track Orders & Purchases page.
- Enter the Order Number (located on the order confirmation email/SMS) and email associated with the order.
- Select View Purchase Details.
- You can select Cancel Item or Cancel Order from the Order Details page.

- Select the order from your purchases in the account tab mobile app to view order details.
- Select Cancel Item from the Purchase History or Details page. You can also select Cancel Order from the Purchase Details.

Why was my item or order canceled?
You will receive an email and SMS (if opted in) order confirmation as soon as we receive your order. Once we start processing it, items may be canceled for reasons such as:
- An item is no longer available
- We cannot meet the SLA that the customer selected
- The payment method can't be processed
- The shipping address can't be verified
- For Pick Up in Store/Curbside orders, we'll cancel items that aren't picked up during the pickup window, 5 days from Order Placement.
In the event that we can help avoid a cancellation, we will provide options to the customer to change a store location or select a new shipping date for the item. These changes will be sent to the customer via Email/SMS and can always be accessed via the Account.
Can I stop an order from being delivered?
We do our best to ship orders quickly. If the order is being prepared for shipment or delivery, you may be able to cancel the item or order. It may also be possible to request to change to store pick up or change the address. Once your order has shipped and tracking details are available, you can contact the carrier directly to refuse the delivery.
Unable to cancel or modify your order?
When you’re unable to cancel or modify it, we’ve fully processed the order. At this point, we are unable to accept changes or cancellations.
Bulk Delivery Costs
How much does it cost for Bulk Delivery?

Costs can vary widely. The cost depends on several factors:
- Size and weight of the item: Larger and heavier items cost more to ship.
- Delivery distance: The further the delivery, the higher the cost.
- Delivery option chosen: You'll usually have options like basic delivery (least expensive), scheduled delivery, and room of choice (most expensive), each with a different price.
- No standardized pricing online. Academy doesn't list a bulk delivery fee schedule on their website.
How to find the bulk delivery cost?
- Add the item to your online cart. Go through the online checkout process as if you're going to purchase the item.
- Enter your delivery address. This allows the system to calculate the shipping cost based on your location.
- View the delivery fees. Before you finalize the order, you'll see the bulk delivery fee displayed along with the other costs.

Academy Sports offers a helpful combination of bulk delivery and assembly for those larger items that can be a real pain to get home and put together yourself. Here's how it works:
What qualifies for bulk delivery and assembly?
This service applies to oversized items that are typically too large or heavy for standard shipping. Think:
- Exercise equipment: Treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches, etc.
- Outdoor gear: Grills, patio furniture sets, large playsets, etc.
- Sporting goods: Basketball goals, etc.
- Other large items: Gun safes, etc.
How does Bulk Delivery + Assembly work?
- Purchase: When you buy an eligible item online or in-store, you'll have the option to select bulk delivery and assembly during checkout.
- Delivery: Academy uses a third-party freight carrier to deliver your item(s). They will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment.
- Assembly: Here's where it gets convenient. In many cases, the delivery team will also assemble your item for you in the room of your choice. This saves you the hassle of figuring out complicated instructions and potentially needing specialized tools.
Who are the providers for Bulk Delivery?
The two primary carriers for Bulk Delivery are CEVA & EFW. They fulfill the orders for Basic Delivery, Schedule Delivery, and Room of Choice. For Bulk Delivery + Assembly, Academy Sports + Outdoors uses M&C.
Bulk Delivery Order Modifications
Can I change my address for a Bulk Delivery or Bulk Delivery + Assembly item?
Bulk deliveries are not eligible for a change in shipping address while the order is being prepared. It is best to cancel the order and re-place with the correct address if a mistake has been made. You can also contact Customer Care via chat or the phone number.

How can I track my Bulk Delivery Order?
- Sign in to your MyAcademy account to view your Purchase History and tracking.
- Select Track Package next to your order. You will only be able to track the Bulk Delivery after the item has been packed and is ready for delivery.
- View all updates to track delivery progress.
How do I track my Order without a myAcademy Account?
- Visit the Track Purchases page.
- Enter your Order Number and Email associated with the purchase, these details can be found in your Order Confirmation Email.
- Select Track Package next to your order.. You will only be able to track the Bulk Delivery after the item has been packed and is ready for delivery.
- View all updates to track delivery progress.
Note: You will also be linked to the order if you have opted into transactional email and messaging.
Bulk Delivery Restrictions
Scheduled Delivery for Heavy or Bulky Items (7-14 Business Days)
Academy offers scheduled delivery shipping via a freight trucking company for certain heavy or bulky items that cannot be shipped via parcel carrier (e.g. UPS, FedEx, or USPS). During the checkout process, we automatically select which products require this option. After entering your shipping information, we verify if special delivery services are available in your area.
Most ‘Oversized Items’ leave our distribution center within one full business day. You can expect your order to arrive within 7-14 business days. Business days include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday — excluding United States federal holidays.
If your order qualifies, you can choose from one of the following options:
- Basic Delivery - The carrier will deliver to your door with no appointment or signature required.
- Scheduled Delivery - The carrier will contact you to schedule your delivery within the main entrance of your home.
- Room of Choice - The carrier will contact you to schedule your delivery to your room of choice.
Note: Orders ship via Academy's Bulk Carrier Service. Additionally, bulk orders are not eligible for P.O. Box or APO/FPO/DPO delivery.
