How Do I Choose the Right Backpack Size?

A backpack should not be wider than your child's torso and should sit two inches above their waist. When packed, it should weigh no more than 10% to 20% of your child's body weight to prevent strain. Consider the backpack's capacity, measured in liters, based on your child's grade level: Elementary school (Grades 1-5): 15-30 liters. Middle school (Grades 6-8): 25-40 liters. High school (Grades 9-12): 35-50+ liters.

What Makes a Good School Shoe?

A great school shoe balances comfort, support, and durability. Look for cushioned insoles for comfort, sturdy outsoles for grip, and materials that can handle daily wear and tear on the playground. Younger kids need shoes with easy closures like Velcro or elastic laces. Older students often prefer sneakers with ankle support for sports or walking between classes. PE classes or team sports require running shoes or trainers with traction and flexibility. Some schools require uniform shoes, so check guidelines before buying. Academy offers all types—from playground-ready to classroom-perfect to sports-specific shoes.

What are the key factors to consider when choosing school uniforms?

Key considerations for school uniforms include adhering to the school's dress code regarding color and style, selecting breathable, stain-resistant fabrics like cotton or poly-blends, and choosing durable features such as reinforced knees in pants.

Why is it important to consider an insulated lunch box for my child's lunch?

An insulated lunch box or bag is essential because it helps keep cold foods cold and warm foods warm. This ensures that their lunch remains fresh and safe to eat by midday. Without proper insulation, perishable foods can enter the temperature 'danger zone' (between 40°F and 140°F) where bacteria multiply rapidly, increasing the risk of foodborne illness. An insulated lunch box, especially when used with ice packs, helps maintain a safe temperature. It also prevents spoilage, keeping food more appealing and nutritious.
