Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK NVG monocular Having used NVGs in the military this 1st generation NV monocular was a bit of a let down. It was simple to operate, but the use it was intended for, my wife looking at wildlife at night on our property. In the future I would opt for binocular and later generation. The NV monocular itself was clear when you have a known image and location within 50-100 feet worked well, but certainly not a piece of equipment that allows you to scan for objects. Without the IR light illuminated the image was very distorted and it was not a low light night. My recommendation would be to spend more money for a later generation and NV binocular set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to monocular for night hunting. I have 2 of the FF24063 monoculars and have used them for 3 years now. These are my go-to night hunting scouting scopes. Easy to use and they have good IR range for eye shine detection out to 200 yards on dark nights. Excellent animal detection & identification close range to 150+ yards. The optics are really clear, probably the best generation 1 I've ever used. The battery life is excellent. I actually use the bump button feature. By holding the on button down about half way you can activate the unit and scan. Let off the button and the intensifier tube stays charged for several minutes without using battery power. This is really useful on bright nights when you don't absolutely need the built-in IR illumination. Great warranty too. A terrific value, you wont be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My First Firefield Purchase I had never heard of Firefield prior to seeing a video about this product but the video and comments were still impressive. I thought the price was very reasonable but that made me question the claims and alleged quality even more. I decided to give it a shot, worst case I'd be sending it back with a rude demand for a full refund. Much to my surprise, the claims were indeed accurate and this product exceeded my expectations! It is compact, sturdy and functions flawlessly! Focus is smooth. Image quality is amazing. Now I haven't actually needed it yet but I sure have had quite a few hours of quality entertainment with it. I really had no idea how much wildlife there is in the SW desert at night! Being a believer in Firefield quality, I've made two more recent purchases & extremely pleased with those as well. I'll keep coming back until they forget what made them great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok for the money you pay I purchased it a couple of weeks ago. I have used it twice for hunting hogs at night. It works great in a field with some moon light. On nights with low to no light, not so well. I could barely see hogs at 100 yards. But for the money you pay, it works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product for the money I get to hunt with thermal once in awhile but nowhere close to my price range and can't be beat but this fire field with a good light and scope on your weapon you're ready to rock just be patient zoom and focus all my bud who looked through it asked me how much and then they go get one Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gen 1 I was skeptical about Gen 1 night vision, but didn't want to spend a $1000 for gen 3. I hunted last night from a Box stand over a narrow opening in the woods. Feeder is 90 yards out and I could see the animals under/around the feeder. I give it a 5 for its performance and only being a Gen 1 product.

Is this Gen 1 or Gen 2 tech?

Asked by: sh33
I believe it's Gen 1. I have had mine now for several months and still am very pleased with it. Im even impressed with the ability to view close up. We have a tom cat that shows up for food. He won't let us get too close but by using the scope I can insect him for injuries etc.

I have an old HF Russian scope that requires you to hold a button to "charge" it - then repeat every couple of minutes. Does this model work that way, or is it a true "on" and "off" switch?

Asked by: KMatch
Hello, KMatch. The Firefield Nightfall™ 4 x 50 Night Vision Monocular has a true On/Off switch you will depress to turn the unit on then again to turn the unit off. Being that it is a Gen1 unit, it will take from 2-5 minutes for the tube to turn off all the way - but it will not be using battery power at that time.
