Kershaw Scallion with Black Plastic ScalesI've had a Scallion for EDC for at least six months and to date have not had to sharpen it. Have never had another knife this sharp and capable of holding its edge like this. Of course I've nicked myself a couple of times just playing with it! Excellent size, Speedsafe is lightning-fast, textured black plastic scales are preferable to me because they offer better grip than smooth aluminum scales. I don't use safety when hanging pocket clip on pants, but if I carry in pocket I do activate the safety device, since flipper is fairly sensitive to pressure. This is the sixth Kershaw in my collection, and they are all at least very good, with several, including a Packrat, a Damascus Zing and this Scallion being great!

Great design, made in USA? blade chip 1st useI have owned the Leek, Chive, and Scallion. They held up to use until I lost them, had them stolen , etc. All with stainless handles, which were nice for carrying, but too small to have a strong grip. This has a better grip, but doesn't feel too solid. The first day I really used it was when operating a weed eater and used the knife to cut the filament and plastic twine that became tied up and a couple of vines. Between those activities, the blade has two small chips in it. All previous ones were made in USA, and I'm assuming this one was too but I had a bad piece of steel. If it is made overseas, well there is the problem - not caring about quality control, only producing low price product. The wear is probably too small to photograph, but definitely there and never present on the other models I have owned over the last 9 years. I like the partially serrated models (this one isn't serrated), the last one I owned was a chive and over a few years the serrations became dulled and wasn't sure how to sharpen them.
It is nice having a low price, but better to have a good knife.
This one with thicker handle and a little extra length doesn't carry as well clipped in front pocket compared to stainless Chive. It pokes into leg and hip.
