GALVANIZED?My wife picked up a model 27760 LED Lighted 60" Heavy Duty Post Guides for me. While looking at the contents, and reading the installation instructions, I noticed the post and mounting hardware did NOT looked galvanized; at least not to trailer standards used in the salt and brackish waters of South Louisiana. I went back to the packing box, and it did indeed say 'Galvanized Steel Construction'.
The following day, I called some local trailer supply businesses in the New Orleans metro area, to see if someone had a better product. Each had a possible better post and mounting hardware, but no lighted models. The owner of one trailer manufacturer and parts store warned me to change out at least the mounting hardware for a better galvanized product.
I called C.E. Smith, and was told that the mounting bracket was galvanized, but not the U bolts and nuts. The first thing I noticed on the website, was they sold replacement mounting hardware for this product, telling me they must have frequent failures. Not a good testimonial. Stainless steel would be top notch, but a good hot dipped galvanized set of mounting hardware would do a much better job than the supplied hardware. The customer service rep did not have any galvanized or stainless steel U bolts to sell me for this product.
I've yet to mount the set, becasue I'm weighing my options. Before putting these on my other three boat trailers, I'm going to do more research to find something that I won't have to replace in a few years. Who knows, they may actually hold up. Time will tell.
NOTE: I gave a 'No' recommendation for use in high salt environments. For those using this in product in fresh water, I would recommend it.

AmazingI have a 24ft Center Console boat that I purchased recently and it has bee a royal pain when putting the boat back on the trailer. Most times everything is just fine but on occasion with side wind the boat doesn't want to sit in the middle of the trailer. I have tried pulling the trailer further out of the water but the boat is too heavy to get on the trailer so I have to go further in which causes the back to float some. Just to be clear I only had problems about 1 out of every 10 times but when I did I hated it. In and out of the water trying to get it a little to the left, little to the right, too far, etc, etc. Now I purchased these boat guide-ons and what a huge difference. Every time on the trailer the first time. So glad I made this purchase!!!!
As a background I have owned multiple boats for the last 20 years and never had any issues trailering. I am also a very frequent boater so I have much practice. This is the largest boat I have owned and the only I have ever had trailering issues. This is an absolute for to anyone experiencing these issues. Great purchase.

Easy installation, Perfect for any boatI have had this for just under 2 months and it has been perfect. Makes it easy to see the trailer position no matter if you are in the boat or backing up an empty trailer. Haven't tried putting the boat on the trailer at night yet, but the lights should make it a snap. I have a pair on my kayak trailer too, but those don't have the lights. I would never buy a pair without lights again.

Workers perfect!Wanted to mount my trailer lights where they wouldn't get submerged when I unload and load my boat. They mounted very easily and have performed everything I needed them to do.
Hi I have a coated trailer and do not want to drill a hole in it for grounding like the assembly instructions state. With that said, there are a few predrilled holes that are coated near the lights already. Would it ground properly through the coating?
Asked by: Clem13
Poor grounding is usually the primary cause of trailer light problems. I have four boat trailers and one utility trailer at my house right now, and two more boat trailer garaged at another location. After trying a lot of different options, I get the best results by running a ground wire from the wire harness connector to the trailer lights. Essentially, you're using the vehicle ground vs. grounding the trailer to the trailer hitch ball, which may be rusted. A lot of tow vehicles use receiver hitches rather than bolt on hitches. Since receiver hitches have some amount of play in them, it provides poor grounding.
