Strong and dependable
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Jonathon2 years agoI've used open face reels for the longest but wanted a good spincast like dad and I used back in the day. I paired this with the Pflueger Trion 10SCB, which is a $70 combo and well worth it. I miss these spin cast reels and use it quite often now. Ugly Stick is known to be strong and dependable, great rods and no since to spend a crazy amount of money when you can get these at such a good price.

Great as always
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.T1233 years agoI always have liked Ugly stik, and the GX2 no exception. Gave the 7' and the 6' a little overhand swing in the aisle, and the 6' is more easy to control with one hand, but I could definitely tell there was more power in the 7' with two hands. Went with the 6' because it felt better balanced, and love it. I'm going to end up getting a 7' too. I was especially happy with the guides; safe for braid, and don't corrode in salty water!

Problem with ugly stick
This reviewer rated product 3 out of 5 stars.Whistler joe3 years agoFirst off, great rod, great price. Now the other side. In the picture of the rod on the site, it shows and extended butt end. but when you get it, its only about a foot long from the reel seat. Not what was advertised. Remedy, ream out an 18in. piece of 1in. PVS pipe until it just fits tight on the current butt end. Force it up to the reel seat, Get a tennis racket handle wrap and put I over the PVC Works great and fits in the rod holder.

Perfect size, weight & action!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Geaser4 years agoMy 2 piece ultra light ugly stick is everything I hoped for & more. Really like the overall size, weight & action. My old one went to my daughter & every other option was either one piece or action too light. This pole will see many miles, streams & reservoirs on the Wyoming mountain roads. Really love the new hook tender eyelet by the handle. Good to know the product development team is thinking. Great product. Pole did arrive w/ one bent eyelet, even though it was packed in a cardboard tube. ... Mishandled at factory?

Nice convenient rod.
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Anonymous2 weeks agoI used it for opening weekend of trout season in NJ. I mounted a 33 on it and set up a slip bobber rig using a gizmo bobber stop. Caught 4 nice rainbows. The rod handled very well and being telescopic it compacts so nicely and I can take it anywhere. So far so good.

An OK rod, but a little weak for a kids rod
This reviewer rated product 3 out of 5 stars.Anonymous2 years agoThis was just right for my grandsons. You should strengthen your rod's receiver, as kids are more rough with gear.

Excellent rod with excellent warranty.
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.R Pearson1 week agoHave three of these now, and have broken one under conditions that would’ve broken most any rod in my arsenal. As inconvenient as it is I always have back ups with me have three of these now, and have broken one under conditions that would’ve broken most any rod in my arsenal. As inconvenient as it is I always have back ups with me or just sort of an occasion. Nice thing is academy is just a short drive away and are very serious about packing their products. I will continue to use though I am ... no professional it is lightweight well-balanced and very sensitive when using top water or different rubs are worms. Couldn’t be happier academies customer service. That alone is worth a little inconvenience if that were the case but as it is I’ve use these rods for over a year and a half now and they are excellent.

Great "all-around" rod
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.rdfrbrd2 years agoI much research I bought this rod and am very glad to have it in my arsenal. I shopped at several stores a rod, and couldn't find it in the power and length I wanted, so I finally ordered on line. I received it quickly with no problems, but I have waited to review it until I have had quite a bit of time with it on the water and a fish on. The performance of the rod is excellent. It has exactly the power and tip speed, as well as, the very light weight I prefer. I only fish bass and this rod ... has quickly become my "go-to rod". The specs. sheet list it as a 7" MH fast tip and I think that is spot on. Many rods advertised as MH are really medium. It has a very nice finish and the line guides are advertised as Fuji Alconite, I am not that up on them, but when the rod arrived it had those "springy" recoil ones installed. I don't believe they are the Fuji Alconite. I thought the Alconite were more rigid.

I need love with this rod!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Whit535 months agoI bought this rod a little while ago and I will not lie this is better than any other rod that I have. I was looking for a cheap rod and found this one. I took it out fishing and hooked a 4 pounder on a crank bait and it handled great! It's sensitive but has a strong backbone. Couldn't ask for a better rod. I would buy 4 of these!

Lightweight, Sensitive, Strong Build
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.BassinOrlando4 months agoI bought this rod (7ft version) over the holidays. I wanted a rod to compliment the Abu Garcia Silvermax reel I picked up. I usually like things that are a good value for the price and didn't want to pick up a $100 rod for a $60 reel. I found this one online with good reviews. Pros: The rod is light weight yet sensitive. Being light weight is nice since it doesn't fatigue my hand when working soft plastics. It is also fairly comfortable to hold. It is as sensitive as my spinning rod. I have ... a 2 piece Browning which is a good rod but no where near as sensitive as this one. I can feel a weightless senko move when I twitch it unlike with my Browning. The rod has enough of a backbone for a strong hook set and lets me bomb my casts with no issue. Cons: It only comes in a grey/red combo. This is completely worth the money if you're looking for something under $100. I now have a combo with my Silvermax that cost me $100 in total and has performed very well.

Lew's rod
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.bassorbucks2 weeks agoI like the Rod, but not quite as much as I do my H20 Express rods that cost the same money. It has a great feel, but may not be quite as sensitive as My Falcons or the H20 express rods. I do like the handle and the weight of the rod a lot.

Good Rod For The Price
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Louielou1 day agoGot two of these. I go fishing several times a week. Landed everything from big bull reds to big speckled trout, sheeps head every saltwater species and its held up very good. Good price for the rod compared to other expensive you can find at academy. Definitely get a bang for your buck.

7ft poping rod
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.InshoreSlayer5 years agoThese Coastal xg's are the best when comes down to inshore saltwater task. Lots of back bone and nice med fast action tip. Caught a 45" bull red and 30" tarpon with this rod. It can work any inshore saltwater lure, and popping corks as well. Shimano 200E7 on here is my go to.

Great rod!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.boycot197010 months agoPurchased 2 of these last month for bass fishing. Absolutely love them both.Very sensitive tips with a strong backbone for pulling bass from the heavy cover and pads. Can't beat the exchange policy on H2O rods and reels. I take pretty good care of my rods/reels, but they occasionally have broken over the years. I've returned them to Academy and had them replaced---no questions asked.

Good Rod, but not perfect
This reviewer rated product 3 out of 5 stars.nando_basser2 years agobought this rod about a month ago, and it's pretty good. Only issue is the handle/reel seat, is too close to the butt end of the rod, so it kinda shortens the rod grip. It's also a bit heavier than other rods I own. Other than that, it is firm and can handle big fish, with no problem.

Amazing rod!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Dildymac9 months agoMy girlfriend bought me this rod along with an Abu Garcia Revo s. It's amazing!!! This rod became my all time favorite rod. I have some Abu Garcia veritos 2.0s and there really good but this rod works extremely well with chatter baits!!! Caught my personal best 1 month after I got this rod on it. 8lbs. You honestly can't go wrong with this rod. I'm getting another one just for chatter baits. And the price......can't beat for a rod this good. Tight lines!
