A go to bait! It's a toss up, live maggots or sparkle nibbles. One thing is for sure, sparkle nibbles always catch crappie thru the ice. Even when the bite is tough, the aggressive ones always hit the nibble.

Berkeley crappie nibblesI started using the nibbles about 7 years ago. I had a bottle in my tackle bag but had only tried them a couple of times. I was catching crappie that day and they stopped biting, I put on a nibble and got another bite on the second cast. After a while the fish stopped agin, I thought about the fact that I had stopped putting the nibbles on so I stuck another one on and the bite started back agin. Now that doesn't work every time but you will not catch me crappie fishing with out a gold rush nibble on my hook. I mostly tight line fish now but I used them when I was casting with a ultra light and as long as you didn't try to cast real hard they will stay on quite well. I don't have to worry about it but if you have a real nice clean boat they will make a mess. I use the gold rush but my fishing buddy Roy uses the chartuse and he catches fish and does't have to deal with all the glitter. We also use them for bream fishing if our crickets get low and the bream really like the also.

Overall... great but not outstanding.I used this product to tip an artificial lure. Very good hits. I decided to try the nibbles without a lure and just on a plain gold aberdeen hook with one little nibble on it under a float. Bam! I caught the biggest bluegill I've ever had the pleasure of landing. I noticed when using these nibbles, I only caught large bluegill. I am not sure why but the smaller ones did not touch it, which was good for me.
My only issue with this bait was the constant need to place another nibble on the hook. Bait does not stay on well and the glitter comes off very easily,,, on your hands and in the water. However, considering the success rate, I find it was worth it.
