Great Machine!I bought this machine for my son a few years ago and decided I should review it since it's been so great to us.
In my opinion this is a machine that every young player needs. In addition to the pitching machine we also bought the power alley cage that goes with it. I actually surprised my son with both for his birthday and I'll never forget the look on his face when he had his own ball park in our small backyard. It was amazing.
Set up was very easy for both. I think between my young son and I we had him swinging in less than an hour. The machine says it pitches real balls up to 45 mph, but I calculated it at full speed with our 22 foot cage it's like a 94 mph fast ball because we're half the distance of the calculation. Haha. Believe me, it's fast!
I also like how safe both the cage and machine are. I've seen some of those large wheeled machines at our ball games for pitch league and I'd be afraid to let my son anywhere near it. This machine is fully enclosed and is safe.
There is an air filled tire on it that pitches the ball. I've been lazy a few times and forgot to check it before we used it, then it vibrated and sounded loud. Once I realize it, I take two minutes and pump it up and it's ready to go for another few weeks.
The cage is great because it keeps the balls from breaking our windows.
Overall, this is a great machine. You can't beat the price, plus it includes a feeder. I haven't found another machine come close to this price that can do all this one does.

Having fun with pitching machineAcademy had quick shipping and nice electronic email updates. Machine is better than I expected. I use newer MLB balls and the pitches are pretty accurate/around strike zone. Leather skin of ball seems to get scratched up a bit but I'd rather use real baseballs instead of yellow dimple balls. The machine is a good value for my weekend use.

Worth the moneyWe've been using the machine for a little over a month and have had great fun with it. It takes a little time to dial it in with getting the motor to spool up to speed, but $200 for a pitching machine is an awesome deal.

One year and running strongI bought this one year ago and was a bit nervous since it seems that some of these had been returned to the store damaged (and then put back on the shelf). However, after 1 year of heavy use I am confident that this is a great product for backyard use (especially for the price).
Some note that I learned in the last year:
1) You have to keep the tire pressure inflated. This requires monthly to bi-monthly checks. Performance goes way down if you do not inflate the tire regularly.
2) You need to use the yellow dimpled balls. These are the same size and weight of a real baseball. The white (light) ones will not feed automatically through the feeder.
3) Never place a real baseball in the machine. I have a feeling this is how others so easily damaged their machine.
4) Their customer support really is great. I had one part wear out over the year warranty (we used it a lot). They replaced the part for free and we just paid for shipping.

Not what I hoped forUsed about 4 times, does not throw real baseballs well, they tend to stick in the loader and require you aid them through to the wheel. Tried the suggested piching balls, they flow better but I do not see getting the advertised 45 mph. Had to move the machine to close for comfort to the batter to get a good speed and have the ball drop to soon. If you like a rainbow pitching effect it works ok. Considering returning and investing a little more for a better machine.
