great productI got this product 2 wks ago and have cleaned around 50 fish from Bass, Grouper, Yellowtail and Snapper. You can do 2 to 3 fish in the time you can do one with a regular knife. Takes a little practice. Cordless is the whey to go. I have been using electric knives for years, this my first cordless, I was worried about the battery being strong enough or not lasting. No problem. Worked great.

Long lasting battery and well balanced!!!I bought 2 of these because they were highly recommended from a friend. Why 2? Because we have to have a backup and sometimes we have lots of fish to fillet. We kept up with one knife and filleted 150 crappie with it before we charged it the first time. In the spring it isn't unusual for us to fillet that many in one weekend alone. These knives have never failed us, it's money well spent.

Rapala Cordless Fillet knifeI bought this a few months back for my husband and it works great. He does off shore fishing and has lots of fish to fillet. It has plenty power and a long lasting battery.
Will this knife accept Mister Twister replacement blades? What impact will a longer blade have on longevity?

The Rapala® Lithium-Ion Cordless Fillet Knife is intended to be used with Rapala® 6" Replacement Blade. The blades that ship with Rapala® Electric Fillet Knives are designed to last the life of the knife. However, on occasion a blade may get lost or damaged from misuse, so Rapala® offers replacement blades.

do you need to run the battery completely down before recharging?
Asked by: gton
Per the user manual, the Rapala® Lithium-Ion Cordless Fillet Knife should be charged - once you're done filleting or if the battery runs low - by placing the battery into the battery charger. To conduct a full charge on the knife, you can push the condition button to discharge (blinking red light) and then automatically charge the battery (solid red light). Note: This process will condition the battery and improve the battery life. Unit will get warm during discharge. Smart Charge base discharges/charges battery in 3 hours and 45 minutes. Unit will automatically shut-off (green light) when the battery is fully charged and ready to use.
