Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scope for a great price! After ordering this scope, I now own 3 of these and have never had a problem with any of the three. These are great scopes, I have them on everything from a .22lr to an AR and all perform great! After mounting and boresighting, the most it has took to zero any of them has been 5 shots, and that was because the boresight job wasn't as good as it should have been! If you are like me, and just shoot for fun, or hunt with your gun, you can't go wrong with these, great clarity and hold a zero very well, the one on my .270 has been on it for five years now, and I have not had to touch it since the initial sight in process, and have killed deer as far as 275 yards away with it! So, if you are looking for a good cheap priced scope, this is it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from dead on having a 15 year old Simmons on my Ruger I decided to put this on my son's 243 and after bore sighting it took 2 shots at 40 yards and 2 at 100 yards it's been dead on ever since you may say it's the shooter but after about 100 round and the gun falling out off the truck and hiring hard enough to bend the front shade I'm this scope (Don't ask) and not being able to check its zero my son dropped a deer at 124 yard very tough scope and will buy another one

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simmons 8 point 3-9x40 scope For an inexpensive scope this has held up well and performed better than expected. It got mounted on a savage .243 youth model. We bore sighted it, shot it at the range and zeroed it in at 100yds. Been deer hunting with it all season and no problems at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good scope Went to the range and was dead on at 50 yards but a 100 the shots were every where on the target. Just doesn't hold accuracy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good scope for the money i needed an good but fairly inexpensive scope for my .22 semi-auto rifle. in the store i compared the bsa sweet 22 and this simmons 8 point 3-9x40 and the simmons was clearer, had finer crosshairs than the bsa and has the adjustable eye piece, which made it the obvious choice for me. shooting inside a dime at 50 yards in less than 10 shots. it zeros quickly and holds zero with a good set of burris steel rings.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Scope Has Very Short Life Span I have owned this scope for approximately 2 years and it has served me well. I have used it mounted on air rifles, .22 rifles and on a 30-06. Probably have fired 500 rounds using it. Recently the windage and elevation dials stopped working making zeroing impossible. And more recently the magnification dial became stuck. Scope now no longer functions. Good scope if it will be used occasionally. But apparently its' inexpensive design makes it a disposable scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Nice Scope I bought this scope for my Ruger .270 rifle. Was easy and fun to sight in and was a great purchase for the money. Does everything I need for hunting deer or coyotes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good scope I have 2 of these scopes mounted on large caliber rifles. They offer a clear view and hold zero very well. For the money they are hard to beat.

I don't think you answered the question on use on an air rifle - is the scope rated for the actions of an air rifle? Most are not, but is this one.

Asked by: boag
Hello boag, The Simmons® 8-Point 3 - 9 x 40 Riflescope is rated for more powerful rifles. We do not recommend the Simmons® 8-Point 3 - 9 x 40 Riflescope to be used with air rifles.

What would I need to mount this to a Marlin model 60 22 caliber rifle?

Asked by: James32
Hello James32, The type of mounts needed will be dependent on several factors. Mounting requires a "personal fitting" based on the firearm. We suggest taking your, unloaded, firearm to your local Academy Sports + Outdoors store. After checking in your firearm at customer service an associate will walk with you to the gun department and one of our associates behind the gun bar will be able to assist you in finding the proper mountings needed. Bore-sighting and scope mounting are complimentary services for rifles purchased at Academy Sports + Outdoors. However, if you didn't purchase your rifle from Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bore-sighting and scope mounting are available for a small fee.
