AVOID these if you require any amount of accuracyBack in the day Crossman Copperheads were my go to BB of choice; so when I recently got back into air gunning I naturally purchased a 6000ct container of Copperheads. My air rifle is a Daisy Powerline 901 and it is (literally) a tack driver within 10m, so I was extremely surprised (and disappointed) to discover that it would barely hold a 6" group when firing Copperhead BBs. Rounds were hitting all over the place and accuracy was merely a suggestion. I knew something serious was going on so the first thing I did was clean the gun barrel in case some oil had made its way into the rifling...no difference. Next I looked at the ammo and upon closer inspection I found that every single BB in the container had divots, dimples, and imperfections...all of which will greatly effect trajectory and accuracy. I returned the container of Crossman Coperheads and replaced them with Daisy Precision Max BBs which have a very smooth and even surface. Problem solved! I can once again fire a BB and shatter the push pins used to attach my target to the backstop : )
As a side note: I thought the imperfection problem with Copperheads could possibly be limited to just a "bad run" of product or lot number. With this in mind I have inspected other Crossman Copperhead BBs on the shelf at no less than 6 other retailers and found that they too have the same imperfections and poor QC. Bottom line - Crossman has unfortunately lowered their standards and these are definitely not the BBs they once were.
