Good Size for Every Day Hiking/ trail burningI bought this several years ago from Academy in Macon Ga.
It has awasy been helpful as a hammer (has a flat head oppisite the cutting side) and just for gettig small limbs and trees/brush out of the way.
It is not meant for cutting trees down, but if your in a jam where you need a tool, here ya go!!!
The knife in the handle is very cool and helpful. its about a 2 1/2" blade. good just for cutting small brush, rope etc.
It is prone to fall put however. I auctually lost it about 3 years ago, I finally emailed Gerber 2 years ago and they sent me a free replacement (knife)!!! This also inlcuded a carry strap that attached to the bottome of the axe to keep the knife in place while your doing whatever. No issue with the knife since.

A decent emergency hatchetI got this hatchet a couple years ago. I thought it would be a good emergency hatchet. It's not a bad hatchet for very small diameter logs but any over 2 in. It's not a good idea without a baton or hammer. You have to remove the knife in the handle before use. It's made of good materials. However the handle is short making it not as effective as it could be with a longer handle.
