Holds a lot! After four years, we are about to purchase our second one of these cargo carriers . . . not because something was wrong with the first but because we accidentally ran over it. This has been so helpful when our family of seven travels because we definitely need the extra cargo space. End to end, we stack two 19 gallon plastic crates double high (4 total crates) and have never had any trouble. You will not be disappointed!!

exactly what we were looking for!instructions & pictures weren't great but my 10 yr old son put it together all by himself in about an hour. I just went behind him & tightened the bolts when he done. love the taller sides & cover. good quality cover. 2 person job to attach to vehicle.

Good for the moneyThere is nothing wrong with this cargo rack, it is plenty sturdy to support the weight advertised. Assembly was easy so I'm not sure why all the negative comments on how hard it was to put together. My guess is that the people who had trouble have no business putting things together themselves, I assembled the rack and had it installed on the vehicle in less than 20 minutes. The only issue for me is that the hitch stabilizer that was included will not work with my receiver, but that is due to the receiver design and not any fault of Larin. Academy does sell a model without the strap cage, and that's what I would have bought but it wasn't in stock. All in all, this rack should serve well if you stay within the weight rating of the manufacturer.

useful , but be can be a pain.I bought this and have used it already. For the price, its not a bad piece. It comes with a cargo net, and a full cover. The cage is really nice too. Main reason why I bought it.
The weight of it is pretty heavy. Im fairly stronger than most and can carry it awkwardly if need be (once fully assembled) its a much easier 2 person job to carry and install.
The instructions are horrible. A simple YouTube installation video would do wonders and take 30 minutes to create. Installation took me approx an hour, but im pretty good putting things together. The holes do not line up very well. I agree it needs more reflective tape (even the strip it comes with isnt very good at all).
Another problem I personally had was it is right behind my exhaust on my car. Im sure most trucks and SUV's wont have this problem though. While driving a cloth piece in the carrier burned a little bit. The carrier itself heated up, but not to the point of worry. Ill design something to block that side, not too big of a deal for me. The smaller hitch adapter was not de-burred properly. I had to file it down to get it to fit, and even so, i think it was not fabricated correctly. I have multiple other attachments that fit easily. I have contacted Larin about this, because Id really not rather haul it back to the store, because im gonna end up returning it because this thing isnt something I wanna lug back and forth.
The piece is very wide and it held a full 500 lbs. no problem for me. Just distribute the weight good and you wont even notice it. America doesnt care for craftsmanship anymore, guess we all better get used to that, but it served its purpose 100%. Just some issues along with it.

Very Convenient with lots of featuresThis carrier is very convenient to have. It wasn't necessarily the easiest to put together. The basket and nylon cover are great features to help protect your gear. I also like the feature of being able to fold it up verticle without taking it off the vehicle when you have taken your cargo off

Tough, Well-Built Cargo Carrier!First off, a minor negative; "the assembly instructions threw me a curve ball?" This cargo carrier, is most definitely, sturdy, heavy duty, and, the most obvious, "HEAVY!" Besides folding up vertically, on the trailer hitch, when not in use, I noticed right off, after assembling the carrier, and, mounting it on the trailer hitch that the space between the carrier, and, the tailgate of my pickup truck was much more (much better, too,), than the last, rather light, aluminum carrier that I lost, last week, when it literally "flew off the back of my pickup," because I "forgot" to insert the locking hitch pin, into the horizontal hole in the 2" square mounting slot, and, I was surprised, that I actually drove 80 miles, before I lost it, about 10 miles from home, from a Deer-Hunting trip, up to the south Alabama woods! Oh yes, before I forget; it would be nice if Larin would place a couple more flouorescent "stick on" reflector tapes on the bottom of the cargo carrier so that when it is folded up, for travel mode, the carrier would be more visible, to traffic approaching from behind, after dark. When the carrier is down, the two reflector tapes, are fine. I only suggest the extra two reflector tapes, on the bottom of the carrier, as I mentioned before, when the carrier is folded up, in the vertical, travelling position, when not in actual use. Again, other than heavy (72 pounds), this is one great cargo carrier, and, the attached basket, net, and, cargo cover, is an additional, three pluses, to this exceptional cargo carrier. Thanx, Larin Maufacturing, and, Academy Sports + Outdoors! (:()) (:())
