Rated 4 out of 5 by from This reel is great and the drag works smooth I've owned a lot of reels from $5 to $200 and this reel is on top of my list for the price if you want the best results out if this reel you need to remember that this is a small reel and a medium heavy rod 6'6'' to 8' is the best and 15pound braded line or 12pound mono and keep the drag low and play the fish and have fun the higher you set the drag the more damage you'll do to a reel great reels for the family go fishing and have fun

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great reel for the price Used this as my surf fishing reel for a while. Did as well as you can expect from a reel of this price range. If $20 is what you have, you can't go wrong with this one. But if you want to saltwater fish, look at Penn or Fin Nor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great reel for the budget fisherman! I bought one of these for surf fishing last year, cleaned it well after each trip, and its still going smooth! It is now my dedicated catfishing reel setup. Does great and I just purchased another one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality for the price I've had a couple of models of the Optix reel, size 10 and 40, and both are well and solidly built. Can't beat them for the price. My only issue is the 40 model was slightly redesigned so that the spool of the older model I relaced does not quite fit the new one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good function....bad frame. The reel is smooth and functions w/o flaw. BUT the graphite frame is a NO GO!!! My 40 series is still in one peace but it is so flimsy. As you reel in, the reel flexes back and forth on the rod. The reel flexes so bad it cant even support its own drag. I would highly recommend saving another 20$ and buying a solid framed reel.
