Great reel for the cost!I bought 4 of these last year and put them on BnM jig poles for sac-a-lait. They all performed just fine while vertical jigging, pushing jigs (spider rig), and even some casting with my 8' jig poles. They were certainly an upgrade from the Bucks Mini Crappie reels which didn't hold up very well for me. I just recently bought 2 more to replace my remaining Bucks reels. Even if these only last for a few years they are well worth the price!

Quality controlBought 2 last year( like I do every year) for me and my dad. Had to bring both back. Line would only cast so far. When you reeled in it felt like metal in the gears. I hope they are better this year.

A little workhorse!Bought this little Zebco for panfishing and it has not let me down. I have caught a mess of bluegill with it. Casting with it has been a breeze. Great reel!

The cover on the Zebco Authentic 11 Micro Spincast Reel Convertible should be easily removed in order to put new line on. You may try ensuring that the reel has been properly greased and cared for, but beyond that - the cover should come off without any issues.
To fill the spool with line:
Mount reel on rod and thread new line through guides beginning at rod tip. Prior to winding, rotate the handle of the reel and determine which way the spinnerhead is rotating. Lay spool of line on its side or have an assistant hold so the line comes off in the same direction the spinnerhead is turning. Replace front cover and start winding the line under finger tension. The correct amount of line should fill the spool to within 1/8" of the top of the reel spool lip. Stop periodically to see if line is twisting between reel and spool of line. If it is twisting, rotate line spool end for end.
