Please excuse my naïveté, but is there an alternative to the .223 shell that can be used on the Remmy?

It would be better to know what you want the bullet to do. I had thought at one time, the heavier the bullet the more power. This is not true. It all comes to bullet placement. Remington makes a hollow point if you are looking for power. I suggest going to the range and get used to shooting deer at the base of the skull.
