Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Money I have fished PENN reels for decades both fresh and saltwater. Mainly fishing 440 and 430 Spinfisher reels from the surf. I bought the Pursuit II for my son's birthday and am matching it up to a 9' TICA Graphite rod. I find the Pursuit II a little heavier than the Spinfisher series. It does not have as many ball bearings but overall, its well made and certainly will serve my son well against the gator blues I hope he will land with the setup. Nice reel for the money. PENN baby - wish all PENN reel manufacture would return to the US.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Reel, just take care of it. My wife purchased this reel for me in Feb of 2014 and it has worked great! But like anything else you have to make sure you keep them up with oil and Penn grease. It started sticking until I greased it. But that's not the companies fault, that's poor maintenance on my part... this real is amazing for this price. I've caught everything from 15-25 inch speckled trout to 35 inch redfish up to 30 lbs.. no complaints about this reel. I recommend it for all saltwater anglers on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Reel Go this about $20.00 cheaper than what I would have here in New Mexico. I use to shop at Academy in Austin, TX. Now I am ready to use this on an older rod for "Pendulum Casting" again. I will be using this reel on that rod as soon as I get back to the Texas Gulf Coast and also back to the Oregon Coast. Can't wait to use it, but in the meantime I can practice on my Pendulum Casting and get better with it again. I sure wish ya'll would put in a store here in New Mexico, U.S.A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Reel for the price! I recently bought this reel with a 10ft rod as a combo and had really great results. Smooth and strong. Using it for the first time I reeled in 2 monster bull Red Fish. Great rod...but probably still going to order the Spinfisher 10500 model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't buy waste of money I bought reel about a month ago, took it fishing twice and the drag stopped working and it won't retrieve the line. I've had other penn reels and have never been dissatisfied. For reels in this price range that are great I recommend Daiwa Laguna.

How much does the Penn pursuit 4000 and the pursuit 5000 cost

Asked by: Hogleg
I ordered a 4000 for 39.99. The 5000 would probably sell for 49.99. It's an excellent reel for the price. I have used it a few times and it performed really well.
