Nice rodOverall a very good rod. Great feel & I've hauled in some nice reds without any problems. The only issue I've had with it, and it's more with my cast than the rod itself, is every now and then I'll catch the line on the hook keeper when I am casting.

Great rod! Better cause!!I have been extremely happy with this rod. Hard to beat this rod for the money. I have put it through the paces for over a year now. I have used it to skip shaky head worms under docks and senkos under cypress limbs, it has been very capable of hauling fish (a few big ones) out from under both. I was a little worried about the spine on the medium action, but this one is capable.

Bad experienceI really wanted to like this rod. It came at a good price by a well known company and I expected to at least get a decent performing rod. I was wrong. I've gone through 2 of them now. The first one broke in half while I was casting. It didn't hit anything at all, just an overhand cast from a boat and SNAP. I returned it to academy for another one, thinking I had just gotten a lemon. I take the second one out on my kayak and the same thing happened, while casting overhand it just snapped. I still don't know how it's possible, but it happened. Now I don't even know if I wanna return this one for fear of it just happening again. I guess I'll have to try another brand of rod and see if I can find something better.
