Leupold All The Way!I'm in the custom firearm parts business, use and test everything we sell. I own Swarovski, Zeiss, Leica, Nightforce, Bushnell, Weaver, Hawke and I don't know how many other models and brands of riflescopes for various applications from crossbow hunting to 100+ yard precision rifle shooting. Just returned from my 8th safari where I completed the SCI African 29 in under two years including both the Big 5 as well as the Dangerous 7. I've been lucky enough to put more than 50 head of game in the books including, I believe, 14 Top 10's at last count.
For my personal use there's only four scopes in the world you'll find me with these days:
1. VX-6 1-6x Firedot - I use this mainly for the crossbow hunting and took several SCI Top 10's with it including the SCI #2 lion which earned a national award for 2015. Just mounted one on my PH's .458 Lott as well.
2. VX-6 2-12X Firedot CDS - on my M70 .375 "Dragonslayer" - at 2X or so it's perfect for cape buffalo and elephant (and elk in the timber of course) and crank it up to 10 or 12 when the animals are hanging out there at 300 plus. Replaced almost all of the 1-5's and 1-6's on my dangerous game rifles with these. Perfect for the one-rifle safari and couldn't live without the CDS dials for my pet load(s).
3. VX-3 4.5-14X B&C - When I think the shooting will be quick and there'll likely be no time to monkey with dials you'll find this scope on any one of a number of rifles in the safe with the Boone & Crockett reticle. With it I've taken kudo at 15 yards as well as blesbok at well over 300 yards where I found the 4.5X no problem up close and put the 14X to some really good use that I may not have done otherwise.
4. VX-R 4-12 Firedot CDS - more conventional power range, bit more portable and lighter in weight weight for my pet .280 Ackley. I put one as well on a .338 Winchester - my PH's rifle - as a tip. With it on the Ackley I've made some of the longest shots of my life at over 500 yards.
There you have it.

Love the reticle!I've been beating the heck out of my current scope for about a year. In Multigun competition, I spear my rifle into barrels with complete abandon and I KNOW that this scope can handle the thrashing.
I love the reticle for long range as well as short range shooting. The optic is light weight yet durable. The glass is clear.
If I could change 1 thing, it would be the illumination. Essentially, there is no illumination in the daylight. I miss the bright red dot!!

Crystal ClearAs with all my Leupold products, I was not disappointed. I mounted this scope on a 6.8 mm SPC AR-15 for medium game hunting. The coyote that was stealing my wife's ducks right at dawn found out how clear this scope is in low light conditions! I place Leupold scopes on all my guns so that I know that even my grandchildren can have a lifetime warranty with these products.
