Perfect for Light .38 SpecialHornady says these .38 Caliber bullets are good at 650 fps, and all the way up to 1100 fps. In my experience, this is correct. These bullets have worked best for me at pressures from 12,000 to 15,000, which would be in the 700 - 850 fps range, with very little leading of the bore. ALSO -- I tried them at 600 fps (not recommended by Hornady or the powder companies), and they work fine, with only a small amount of leading of the bore at those low, low pressures. This powder-puff load, which I make for my wife, goes 610 fps (average) in my 5.5" barrel Vaquero, and 532 fps in my wife's 2" Rossi revolver. Hornady has cut back on the amount of dry, wax lube on the knurled bearing surface, making it much more pleasant to load these bullets than previous runs of their Frontier bullets.
P.S. They work great in 9mm light loads, too. (See Pic.)
