Rod SnappedBought this as a Christmas present for my son who has only used it a handful of times. It snapped about a foot from the end under very little pressure. I'm hearing from others who purchased the same rod and it snapped on them as well. Academy will not take it back. They have reduced the price from $69.99 to $29.99 in the store to get rid of them and the Manager said they no longer to make them since they have had a lot of rods returned for this issue. I shop at Academy all the time but really disappointed they will not take it back since apparently there are issues with these rods.

Great rod for the price.Purchased two of these rods last year for Louisiana Inshore Reds on a Popping cork and could not be happier. We are rough on rods so we generally go mid level. We had a guide who had these rods so I purchased some for us as well. Man they did not disappoint. This Rod has enough feel to feel all the little bites and enough backbone to bring in the big ones.

BrokeI got this pole as a gift for my birthday and attached a pflueger reel with 12 lb. mono carbon line on it. I hadn't really used the pole much at all before the day that it broke. I had gone fishing at a local pond that contains pretty decent sized large mouth bass. I had caught a fish before about 2 pounds with no problem, but then a big one hit. I had been fighting the bass for almost 5 minutes and then the pole broke. I ended up having to get into the water to retrieve my fish, which was a 6 lb large mouth. The pole states that it's line rating is 12-17 lb, so in theory the line should have broken before the pole itself. Not a good buy and I would definitely not recommend it.

Great price, pretty good performanceLike most H20 Xpress stuff, this one's a good value.
I have had it for about a year now, and used it to fish for bass, walleye, panfish, and trout. The action is definitely medium/heavy, and the glides are smooth. The handle doesn't get in your way of casting, and I've snagged my lure on enough underwater stumps and rocks that I know the rod can handle being bent over a bit! For the money, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value for a rod.
My two gripes with it are that the reel holder is a little too easy to come undone. About every half hour I have to give it a quarter or half turn to retighten it. It's also a 1-piece construction which makes fitting it into my Honda Civic a challenge (that's my fault though for not thinking about that ahead of time!)
It's a good rod though.
