Rated 1 out of 5 by from POOR DESIGN Poor design on opening into the trap. Opening is too tall and allows fish to easily escape. Opening into the trap is much taller than shown on the trap on the left. Have caught very few fish in the trap. Have had much better luck with a home-made trap. The trap shown on the left seems to have a much better design for the opening and does not look like the trap I received.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No spring closure I ordered this trap because all the spring closures were missing in the store! I ordered two! One had the spring, one didn't! I called the Company to see if I could get a spring closure, but they couldn't help me! There should be some way the manufacturer could secure the spring to prevent it from being lost! My husband loves the trap. Buys them all the time for catching minnows!

How and where do you bait this trap

Asked by: Nickname733
Hello, Nickname733. Filling the trap up with an average of 2-5 pounds of dead bait will always increase your quantity of live bait catches. Try several whole Mullet cut up, left over old bait that you didn't use, cut in half Cigar Minnows, Sardines, Menhaden or Boston Mackerel or fish carcasses from cleaning the previous days catch. The more fish oils and scent that come out of the trap and is released into the water, the better. Fish have an unbelievable sense of smell and the stronger that the bait scent is in the water, the farther the scent will travel, bringing large schools from other areas right into your trap. Additional methods that have proven effective include using cans of Jack Mackerel bought at your local grocery store or cans of cat food that contain high levels of fish oils. For this application, use an old fashioned can opener and use the pointed side of the opener to make as many holes in the top and bottom of the cans as possible.
