Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great grill Bought this grill as a present for a family member and he loves it. Very sturdy and heavy. Just make sure to cure it before you grill on it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not completely satisfied I purchased one of these grills a couple of weeks ago and I am not completely satisfied with the results. I bought one that was already assembled, but was not assembled properly. Screws were not tighten completely. I was not aware of this until I got home and noticed the handle about to fall off. The grill is great for use with the charcoal in the larger main compartment, but is worthless as a smoker. The grill design allows too much heat or steam to escape to properly work as a smoker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BUY THE OLD COUNTRY BBQ INSTEAD!!! I wish i would have saved my money bought an Old Country BBQ pit instead. I bought this Hondo New Braunfels Model about a year ago and regretted it months later. The sheet metal is super thin where it wont keep consistant heat. The Lid on the smoke box and the main grill warped and there is a bout a half inch gap on it now. You can't take your eyes off of it without it loseing heat or burning your food. It took about 4 briskets to finally get used it. I use aluminium foil to cover the gaps when i smoke brisket. I need to check the fire every 15 mins or so or I will lose heat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent for hot smoking This is a good grill for a fair price. The main grill is pretty typical of a BBQ grill with enough room for a smoke box... however, if you light a good amount of coals in the sidekick barrel you can slowly keep adding chips while smoking your food on the top rack near the opening where the two barrels meet. Temp stays consistent for quite a while. I smoke large pork loin on it all the time. Love it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sturdy steel const I got one of these 25 years ago, and lost it in a wildfire, it was great bbq. I got the new one, very strudy like the old but..... the theromoter was broke in shipping, very weak part and disturbing is that when turned off, shut off all vents, the coals all still burn to white ash, the 25 year old unit would save the coals, saving $$$ and lots of time as I bbq 3-4 times a week. The cast iron grates are nice, but coal grates dont cover the bottom like the old one. Re-think what may not have been and improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it I have 4 smokers including a lang 84 reverse flow for competition use. I bought this one 3 years ago for home use. I did seal it and put latches on it so it keeps a steady temp. I also keep a rattle can off header paint on hand and as soon as I see the paint bubbling I sand it and paint it right then. I have no problems with this smoker. Would recommend to friends.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of JUNK. I bought this grill a few years ago and was severely disappointed at the cheap construction of the unit. Cheap thin sheet metal bolted together. Now as time took its toll, the firebox has rusted out and no new parts are available. The thin metal makes it nearly impossible to control the heat, it's not airtight so you can't smother the fire to produce smoke. Spend the extra money and buy a steel pipe construction model. This doesn't smoke meat but rather grills it.
