KATY, TX (August 2, 2016) – Academy, Ltd. (d/b/a Academy Sports + Outdoors), a premier sports, outdoor and lifestyle retailer, donated 5,000 total backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies to all 13 Boys & Girls Clubs across the Greater Houston area.

“I am incredibly proud of the hundreds of Academy team members who put forth a tremendous effort to ensure that 5,000 children throughout the Houston area received a backpack full of school supplies for the upcoming school year,” said Academy Sports + Outdoors president and CEO, J.K. More than 700 Academy Sports + Outdoors team members stuffed 5,000 backpacks with essential school supplies in one day at the company’s headquarters in Katy, Texas. Over the course of the day, the team members were supported by children from the Boys & Girls Clubs. The backpacks were presented to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and then distributed to all 13 local chapters. The retail value of the backpack and supplies totals more than $25 and includes crayons, composition notebooks, glue sticks, #2 pencils, facial tissue, pink erasers, ear buds, pocket folders, colored pencils and an Academy Sports + Outdoors water bottle.
