Pro's: Clear even at max magnification Crisp adjustments Gathers light very well Dead hold BDC and Vortex LRBC work great to gather Con's: Very short eye relief. I have had to alter rails to clear the scope it is so short. No sunshade for this model even though its threaded. -over all its a great scope for 200 or less. Competes with scopes that cost $400-500. If the eye relief was fixed it would be one if the best hunting scopes on the market in my opinion.
I have had this Vortex Rifle Scope on my Browning X Bolt in 30-06 for a few years now. As with all Vortex optics, no one comes close to quality, clarity, durability, and warranty. I was amazed at the clarity of the optics the first time I took it out and sighted it in. It was easy to sight in and has never lost it's zero. I used this Scope to hunt Antelope on Wyoming among other things. Even at 400 yards in the flat open country the optics performed flawlessly. I filled all my tags and had a ... freezer full of meat. I will never buy another brand of optic again.
I have always been a "American Made" shooter and can honestly say this scope is better than the American made scopes I presently have.
Recently got into rifle shooting. Paired this scope up with my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308, I couldn't be happier! I will recommend Vortex Optics to anyone that is in the market for a riflescope. Affordable. Great warranty. Great quality!
I have this scope mounted on a Remington 700 300 win mag. This rifle is used for whitetail deer, mule deer and hog hunting. The scope is very clear and has great eye relief while still being simple enough for an average hunter to use in the field and on the range. The quality in the vortex product lines is never questioned and their customer service is second to none. This was my first vortex optic and since I have upgraded all my rifle scopes to Vortex along with my binoculars. I have also been ... able to convert two of my hunting buddies to Vortex and they are pleased with their optics as well.
I had been in the market for a while for a new scope for my 7mm. I had looked at Nikon, and Leupold and just never really fell in love with anything. After trying out the Vortex scopes i really liked the clarity and the setup of the scopes. I own a pair of the Kaibab's as well and it all comes to money for quality. These are great quality products in a great price range.
Bought a mossberg 270 that had the crossfire II and to my surprise after bore sighting it....... I was dead center on the bull at 100 yds after two shots. Fired 10 more and I never got out of the bull. I am about to order another one for 30-06.
I own several Vortex scopes! This was my lowest priced purchase of any of their quality products! Upon opening the box I had to do a double take! The quality and looks rivaled the Viper series! Mounting was easy and forgiving with the eye relief ! Clarity !!!! I didn't expect the Crossfire II series to compare to their higher end scopes! I was Wrong! The clarity was equal to my Viper PST scopes, as my family and I did side by side comparisons! I must say you guys made a believer out of me!! This ... scope has been on a crossbow, Ruger 10/22 , and .308 Tc and has held 0 on all 3 ! Again........ I'm a believer!
After many years of dependable use my scope was damaged during a move from the east coast to the Great American west. After a phone call I sent Old Faithfull to the good people at Leupold in Beaverton, Oregon for a going over. They repaired my selector and reworked my erector system at no charge. Old Faithfull is like new again.Thank You Leupold
I bough my Leupold VX-2 back in March and I couldn't be happier. I upgraded from a cheap scope I had on my Savage .270 and it's the best purchase I've made on a scope. I love how clear it is looking through this scope and it was zeroed after 3 shots of boresighting. Another great feature is the ability to get a CDS dial. I liked this scope so much I bought a VX-1 Shotgun scope the following week after this purchase. One more thing to add is Leupold scopes are all manufactured in America!
I have many of these scopes on my rifles. All of them work flawlessly. I'm very disappointed however to learn that you have discontinued this scope in a gloss finish. I know that it seems everyone on the planet thinks a matte finish is required on everything for hunting. I'm sure the Matte finish scopes outsold the gloss by 10-1 or more. But, I can tell you that a gloss scope looks much better on a rifle with nice high luster bluing than a matte finish does. Contrary to what all of the know it ... all's say it does not spook game either. Sad that you have made this choice.
I've had this scope on a hog hunt and I was not disappointed. Easy to sight in and the clarity can not be beat at this price range
No problem mountain it On rifle stays on target when I shoot it
Perfect scope for that .22 shooter trying to get the best accuracy out of their .22. The glass is very sharp and the scope always goes back to zero with no problems.
I bought my scope a month ago, I've shot with it 3 times, the optics are amazing, crystal clear. Great features on scope. Red and green illuminated reticle are great for night hunts. Nikon is the way to go.
put in child's .22 scope functions fine zeroed in without issue son likes it and shoots well with it. Did notice there is no gas seal if you unscrew the rear lens the cross hair is right there not what you would find in a quality scope. But what you would expect for the price. I would recommend this for a first time shooter but I will upgrade if my son continues to enjoy shooting wants to stay at it.
I mounted it on my FWB .177 air rifle and it stays zeroed in for target practice after 100 rounds. Only con is no adjustable objective
I needed a scope for my Savage Arms 93R17 BTVS rifle and this one fits the bill nicely. I decided to get the 50 instead of the 40 OBJ for the extra light gathering capability. You need to use the extra high mounts for it so keep that in mind. It was easy to mount on the rifle and then sight in at the range. As a first time rifle shooter I was able to hit a 1 1/2" five round group at 100 yards. For the money it's a good scope and does the job.
I ordered this as a Christmas gift only because my son already has one and really likes it. In passing. He said he needed to get another one. Now he will have it.
I bought this to use on the sport arise 1891Argentine Mauser to use it as pig hunting rifle.got to pigs no problem sighting in and scope @100 yds
Haven't shot it yet. Going to sight it in tomorrow. And dial in the TAG Rectical
I've had this scope for about a month now and I have to say it's working great for me. I have it mounted on a m&p 15-22 sport rifle. So far I've taken down 2 coyotes with it.
I bought this about a year ago for my Savage Axis 30-06 and achieved sub MOA at 100 yds. Have put well over 100 rounds through the rifle and still holds zero. Pretty good bang for your buck.
I reluctantly purchased this scope wondering if it can handle the recoil of an X Frame revolver. It worked well using a low grain bullet rated at 2200 fps, and a higher grain rated at 2800 ft-lbs, so if you have a 460 or 500, this scope looks and works great without having to break the bank. I attached it using the Jack Weigand mount and rings.
The Glass clarity, precision of movement, able to handle shock and vibration, usable in low light situations and ease of use. That is what it is all about. You are able to bring the scope to your eye and capture the object in focus without strain. Be assured that the cross hair is right where it suppose to be giving you the confidence of your shot. I've compared the Nikon to others, including Leupold, and Nikon provides the best optic for your money. A great buy!
Comon! The lens covers have absolutely nothing to do with the excellent optics of this scope. Gathers light better than a top line Leupold. All Monarchs are at the top of my list!
this is a quality scope. there is no movement in the p o i when the zoom is used up and down. the elevation turret is positive, nice clicks and accurate all through the range for a 22lr. The paralex works great. I really need to see this scope at work with a 223 or larger caliber rifle. It's a smooth system, It's a SWEET 22 scope.
I got it 3 days ago. This is the best 22 scope I've ever had for the money! It's simple to adjust from 50-175 yards, just a few clicks and your ready for head shots great varmint scope.
Tried a BDC 4-12 prostaff on my 270 WSM and very pleased with the results. Using the spot on technology to match my bullet, I feel confident at the long range shots. I hunt an area capable of 410 yard shot, and would welcome the long shot with my accuracy in using the BDC. I have killed a buck at 325 with a double lung shot with this 4-12, and thrilled by the clear optics and field of view. I have purchased 6 in the last 2 years because of the BDC match abilities. My leuopld VX 3 mounted on a ... nice 6 mm collects dust in the cabinet now since the BDC additions.
I want to thank you for making such a great looking and functional scope. I have used everything from a Trijicon to a Vortex scope. I like them all very much. I used a Trijicon CQC scope while in service and on deployment to Iraq. I used the Vortex while I came hme. Now I am using this Beautifully crafted scope by Nikon with my .30-06 rifle. It is only a matter of time before I get my Buck. And when I do I will first thank God. Then my hardware. Thanks Nikon.
Put this scope on my converted 10/22. As clear as my Nikon scopes.
Great price and very clear. We have several bushnell shops and they seem to be a good value for the money.
