I had spent a lot of time looking at various reviews about multiple Night Vision Monocular systems. Yes there are other choices out there, but with the Nightfall 2 being on clearance and decent reviews I took the chance. I was surprised at the quality of the unit for the money. I compared to a friends Armasight Prime 5x Gen 1 and was not disappointed with the Nightfall 2. The Armasight has a infrared gain knob which is nice to dial in the illumination but also cost twice as much. The nightfall 2 ... is very crisp once the focusing is understood. Although it does rely heavily on infrared in pure dark situations it still performs very well.
I have had this roughly a week (it was a Christmas gift to myself with gift cards)... It took me a little effort to figure out the focusing but once I got it down it was cake after that. The infared is a great addition up to about 80 yards.. I have a lot of ambient light around my house, so seeing out into the field makes it really easy to about 120 yards... beyond that it's fuzzy. I bought it with the use of seeing animals moving around my property at night and potentially spotting what my dogs ... bark at without turning a light on. I also used it yesterday to see 2 deer moving through to my feeder before daylight. It's everything I was hoping for in an inexpensive scope... i can only imagine how well the ones work that cost a couple thousand. I would highly recommend this... even if you have no use for one... you'll find a reason to use it.
This optic is great for anyone wanting to get into the night vision riflescope market without breaking the bank. Since this optic functions using digital night vision, it can be used either day or night. I found that it is possible to make accurate shots out to 150 yards, which is a very common night hunting engagement range. Close range shots can be difficult because of the fixed 4.6x magnification but can still be done. A lower magnification or variable zoom model would be a great addition to ... the Photon line. I am only giving this optic 4 stars because of the fixed 4.6 magnification.
I have only been able to shoot out to about 125 yards so far, sure it's good far a good bit farther, using an Evolva T67 light it was lit up like daylight, scope was everything I thought it would be and more.
I talked to a lot of sales guys in different stores before picking Vampire 3X from Armasight. As I was short on cash and was eager to pay less for better quality, I gave up when learned about resolution this scope provides. The manufacturer uses their own technology CORE, which offers 60-70 lp/mm and that competes with Gen2 and even with some Gen3 tubes. Besides it comes along with infrared illuminator to be used in complete darkness.
I bought the Vampire a month ago have used it in serval hunts. The scope is very clear and the range is excellent . A problem I had with the scope was the illuminator rail screws stripped out of the scope while I was engaged on a target on the second shot. All and all I am very please with the Vampire.
Do not expect Gen3 quality form Gen1 scope and you’ll be satisfied with this scope. It goes with long range IR illuminator, has 4x magnification and pretty good picture. The scope is easy to mount within seconds. A lot of things are adjustable – reticle brightness, diopter & focus. For this cost WWZ is more than good.
I was new to night vision when I bought WWZ weapon sight. Now after using the scope for almost a year I still like it more than other units I borrowed from my friends or tested elsewhere. My WWZ combines everything I need and doesn’t offer useless stuff, so I don’t overpay. I can shoot a game in the darkness at 200 yards or so using a powerful IR. I had an imprudence to drop the unit and was ready to get on the internet to look for another scope, but there was no single scratch on the WWZ ... housing. All in all, this is a durable easy-to-mount scope with intuitive controls and bunch of useful included accessories. Now I have no doubt that WWZ is a perfect night vision device for me.
My wish list , great for outdoors fun and sports must try
