Pro's: Clear even at max magnification Crisp adjustments Gathers light very well Dead hold BDC and Vortex LRBC work great to gather Con's: Very short eye relief. I have had to alter rails to clear the scope it is so short. No sunshade for this model even though its threaded. -over all its a great scope for 200 or less. Competes with scopes that cost $400-500. If the eye relief was fixed it would be one if the best hunting scopes on the market in my opinion.
I have had this Vortex Rifle Scope on my Browning X Bolt in 30-06 for a few years now. As with all Vortex optics, no one comes close to quality, clarity, durability, and warranty. I was amazed at the clarity of the optics the first time I took it out and sighted it in. It was easy to sight in and has never lost it's zero. I used this Scope to hunt Antelope on Wyoming among other things. Even at 400 yards in the flat open country the optics performed flawlessly. I filled all my tags and had a ... freezer full of meat. I will never buy another brand of optic again.
Best bang for buck rifle scope out there. I am a novice shooter that has developed my shooting skills on my own over time. I can say with confidence new shooters will have no problem with this model. The ease of use, extreme cold weather durability, and the no questions guarantee sold me right away. The DEAD HOLD BDC gives me several options for a shot at any range. If i had to rate this model for new shooters it would rate pretty high. Oh ya and I hunt in Canada so....... no time for excuses up here.
I went to the range with a friend and he let me shoot his new deer hunting rifle and it had a crossfire 2 scope. I was so impressed by the clarity of the scope all the way out to 200 yards. I left he range and drove to the store and bought this crossfire II and put it on my new 45/70 rifle. The next day was opening season and I took a nice doe at 224 yards! Wouldn't have been possible with my old scope this new crossfire definetly made me a Vortex buyer for life.
Around two weeks ago, I purchased the Mossberg Patriot synthetic in 30-06, as a combo with the Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 (For $439!) I couldn't be happier with the rifle, but the optic is what really shines. This optic is very clear, and has a great field of view. The Dead hold BDC is enough to provide hold overs for longer ranges, but not so much that it will get in the way for hunting. I will surely be purchasing more vortex products in the future!
I put this scope on my new Winchester xpr in .243 it has the clearest full picture view of any scope in the price range. It comes with resettable turrets which is an upgrade for most other scopes. This is my first vortex scope and I'm changing out all my other scopes for vortex. Plus the warranty is awesome it's hard to find companies that will stand behind there products the way vortex does and I appreciate that.
Recently got into rifle shooting. Paired this scope up with my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308, I couldn't be happier! I will recommend Vortex Optics to anyone that is in the market for a riflescope. Affordable. Great warranty. Great quality!
Mounted this atop my new CZ 455 American .22LR using Burris Signature rimfire mounts. For starters, this thing is clear and bright. Focuses well at all distances from say, 20 yards and out. Bore sight it and you are on the bullseye within 2 shots. Reticle adjustment clicks are positive without being difficult to move. This my 3rd Vortex optic, don't own any other brands. And they have given me no reason to look at any other brand.
I have the HSLR mounted on a Sako Long range rifle, both are new. I was able to shoot a 1" group at 200 yards from the beginning. I plan to continue working out to 1000 yards.
I've been into long distance shooting for several years now and I rely on dependable, clear, rugged and repeatable products. Vortex optics is all this and more. Using the Vortex Viper HS LR 4x16x50 with the Dead Hold BDC reticle I made the longest shot of my life and possibly the longest shot ever witnessed on a whitetail doe with my custom muzzle loader at an amazing 826 yards! The tracking of this scope is spot on and the clarity is awesome! Vortex optics is the best I've ever used!
P 233 came well packaged with good instructions. First attempt in alignment scope was almost bang on feel of quaility and practical use. Half the weight of my old scope despite its bigger size. I picked this scope as it was highly prasied online.
got this scope As a Christmas gift and after boresighting it took three shots to get it dead on where it has stayed ever since. Ive even gotten a couple of these scopes for my kids and they lve it too!
I have owned this scope for about 3 years now. It is a clear solid scope that is easy to zero with target style turrets and has held zero for all 3 years after 1000s or shots fired and back and forth jostling to and from the range. It is clear and crisp from center to the edges, although clarity is not on a par with much more expensive scopes. Still, for the money, one of the better scopes on the market. The only two negatives are that the turrets really do not work for different weight bullets ... and the screws in the turrets tend to strip out if you are not careful when you tighten them. I just leave the 40gr. turret in place and adjust elevation for different brands of ammo. Very easy to do with a target turret anyway.
I Bought this scope to shoot small game at long range. Was a little hard to get zeroed in but when it was it performed well. have used it several times and with the ammo it call for the scope is right on . takes a little getting use to but get better with use.
I have many of these scopes on my rifles. All of them work flawlessly. I'm very disappointed however to learn that you have discontinued this scope in a gloss finish. I know that it seems everyone on the planet thinks a matte finish is required on everything for hunting. I'm sure the Matte finish scopes outsold the gloss by 10-1 or more. But, I can tell you that a gloss scope looks much better on a rifle with nice high luster bluing than a matte finish does. Contrary to what all of the know it ... all's say it does not spook game either. Sad that you have made this choice.
Bought this scope three years ago and have never needed to sight it in. It keeps the light very well after sunset.
I bought this scope a couple of months ago mounted on a Remington 700 30 06.academy bore it sighted at 50 yards.first shot was two inches to the right in about 2 inches down at 50 yards on paper.took target out to 100 yards.had it zeroed within 4 shots.this is a great scope the clarity is unmatched by anything in its price range.gathers great light on them early morning and late evening hunts.took my first deer on opening day with this scope.do yourself a favor if you're considering the scope ... get it. you will not regret it
I bought this scope this past hunting season and placed in on a .308. Let's just say, I have now placed a second on my 7mm-08. I have been extremely pleased. The clarity of Nikon products has always been above and beyond. This product seems very durable as well because I definitely do not baby my rifle and scope!
Put this scope on my converted 10/22. As clear as my Nikon scopes.
Great price and very clear. We have several bushnell shops and they seem to be a good value for the money.
This scope is excellent for people shooting the .308 Winchester/7.62x51 NATO 168-grain, hollow-point boat tail Match bullet. This scope is a precision instrument and is the clearest glass you will find. I used this scope in a Texas State Mid-Range Championship in F-TR and was very pleased with it's performance. The repeat ability iis spot on. For the money you can't beat it. This is a shot I made with this scope on a Rem 700 .308.
I needed a scope for my Savage Arms 93R17 BTVS rifle and this one fits the bill nicely. I decided to get the 50 instead of the 40 OBJ for the extra light gathering capability. You need to use the extra high mounts for it so keep that in mind. It was easy to mount on the rifle and then sight in at the range. As a first time rifle shooter I was able to hit a 1 1/2" five round group at 100 yards. For the money it's a good scope and does the job.
Scope is extremely clear. Great value. If your thinking about getting one.. DO IT NOW!
Wanted a scope for my AR in 7.62x39 and there were so many choices out there. Some how I found this, What a great scope. Best glass I have seen anywhere near this price point. At just 12 ounce way lighter than most other scopes I looked at. FYI the P Series mounts work very well with this and are just 5 ounces the complete set weighs what most scopes just weigh. Size, weight, and the quality make this one a winner
Bought 2 weeks ago -really glad I did. Easy to sight in. Holds adjust ment. really easy to see through. Fog proof' . Fun to shoot with. I Believe You will love this scope.
I have this scope mounted on my hunting rifle, and used it all last year. The scope is accurate and lets in a lot of light for only being a 40mm. I took a buck last year as the last shred of light was leaving the sky at dusk and was able to make a great shot. Sighting it in was easy. I'm looking forward to another season this year with this scope mounted on my rifle. Most people don't know this, but Simmons scopes are the same as Bushnell scopes. Bushnell is the parent company of Simmons.
I bought one of these scopes right before season last year for my sons .243. His scope had been damaged and would not zero. Money was tight and we needed a scope in a hurry. This Simmons performed amazingly well. The adjustments on the scope are not always exact 1/4 inch, but it is still easy to zero and a very clear, bright scope. The sight picture is as clear as on my $200 nikon.
I bought this Leupold Ultimateslam about 5 weeks ago and have used it 5 times at the range while breaking in a barrel on a CVA Accura V2. The scope is everything I was looking for and the S.A.B.R. retical looks like it will be very close to dead on once I finish the barrel break in and finalize a load using Blackhorn 209 powder. I was only looking for the S.A.B.R. to be good to 200 yds but it appears that It will be accurate out to 300 yds with the load I am developing.
Bought this on line for a 25.06 only to find out it is for a black powder gun or shotgun. The scope is great but you need to put the gun it should go on in the discripition.
both this and wasnt sure what i was getting. but the reticle is suppper clear and the illumination is perfect for low light conditions, and night coyote hunting in other states. Has a lifetime warrenty, and that was a big selling point, scope mounts are not bad if your on a budget. if nott then get the leupold mounts. over all a great product for the price.
I have many scopes, from Ziess to Weaver Kahles, but for the money this is as good a scope for deer hunting they make. I have 2 if these and I would buy another.
The best rifle scope I have ever owned bar none. There's an old saying" you get what you pay for well you could certainly pay more for a rifle scope but I can assure you,you will never beat the quality of a Leupold.
Great buy, would use on any gun. Bought online and seamless process to order.
I bought some Binoculars and the internal part broke. We are headed out on a hunt and the store exchanged them for a better pair.
