This is a great turkey fryer. It took me about 30 mins to put it all together which was a little annoying but easy as long as you followed the instructions. It works great. Like all new fryers out there it has the 15 min auto switch off function. The thermometer that came with mine was bent and I'm going to have to go by a local store to see if I can have it replaced. I have no idea if that can cause the temp reading to be off or not. The first use was over Thanks Giving on a 15 lb bird. ... It took 30 mins to heat the oil up and the click start wouldn't work right ( I don't know if that is my fault or not though ) but it cooked the bird excellent. I look forward to quite a few low country boils and steamed oysters. The versatility of this fryer is the reason I purchased it. So other than a few small things I would recommend purchasing this fryer if you are looking for something that will allow you to do much more than just fry large birds.
We purchased this product the Saturday before Thanksgiving and decided we would put it together in advance. Thank Goodness we did! Despite the outside of the box stating it comes with a poultry stand and lifter, the manual states that it does not. (It only comes with the lifter which in my opinion is too short.) Had we waited until Thanksgiving day, we would not have known we needed to purchase the poultry stand separately. The Outdoor Gourmet Poultry Stand and Lifter (yes, another lifter) ... must be purchased separately for $6.99.
Rock cod season just opened out here one the west coast and I needed something for this years lingcod and cabezon, works great for these and also our local calamari. Wife loves it because all of the peanut oil is contained outdoors. Unit was easy to assemble, seems sturdy enough. The included shelf was a nice bonus. The wind screen around the burner really helps with the efficiency of the flame. I consider this unit a real bargain for the asking price.
I bought this fryer to fry fish and chicken wings. I was a little skeptical about what the quality would be like at this price. I am not one bit disappointed at all.
my old turkey frier died so i had to get a last minute one and found this fryer stand. it said not to cook turkey( most likely a legal thing since it doesn't have an automatic shut off valve in case the temps reach 400) but, it cooked turkey great.
I bought this product and I am very happy with the prompt delivery and the sturdiness, and the weight of the stand.
I just started home brewing and this was definitely a great choice and I couldn't find a better price for the overall. This model puts out the BTUs I need for my 40 quart brew pot and sits very stable on four legs. The strong construction will last me for quite some time, probably forever. A solid column of flame got my 6 1/2 gallons of beer wort up to a rolling boil out on the deck in 20 min. (in the middle of winter at 30 F). Cons: It can be adjusted down to simmer smaller pots, but it's kind ... of touchy and puts off a lot of soot at the lower settings. The thermometer that comes with it is not very accurate either, but hey, it's a freebie.
We bought just one of these at first to see how we liked it. It was great, so we ordered three more. Only problem with those three was two came one day, the other came the next day. Don't know if that was FedEx fault this place. Then we ordered two more after that, so now we have six of these burners. Its just what we needed to boil our maple sap to make our delicious pure maple syrup!!
Bought this product a year ago and have used it several times since. Good product!! only grip is you have to mess with the air flow allowed to the flame the covers do not restrict as much as needed, nothing a little tape couldn't fix.
This fryer is a great buy if you are cooking for a large party. The temperature was easy to control. No more bending over frying on the turkey fryer.
I've been using this for 6 years as my homebrew rig. Saved me a lot of money and hassle getting set up and using. I love the double-burner on it, split from 1 tank. Advertises as high pressure burners, but really is low pressure, but still puts out plenty of flame. Going to be my homebrew rig for more years yet.
I bought this for brewing at home. It's very sturdy. I even stood on it and it didn't budge (I weigh 240 lbs). The only issues I have with it are: 1. Box was missing 90% of the nuts and bolts needed to assemble the nit. They probably just fell out during shipping (box wasn't taped well). Not a big deal, just annoying. Parts cost about $5. 2. You need run the burners for about 30-45 minutes with pots on this thing before you can use it, as the paint around the burners will burn off and put out ... some nasty fumes (paint on the wind shields will burn off too). I recommend getting a paint scraper to help brush off the flaking paint. Obviously, don't breath the fumes. For sake of reference, I own the bayou classic burner sp10 and this was also an issue. Once burned off....party time. 3. The product description reads high-pressure burners...but the regulator is only 10 psi. It works for what I need, but I was expecting a 20 psi regulator and was disappointed by this. Other than the above, I think this is a great unit and certainly worth the price. It's the perfect height for brewing. I can easily gravity-feed wort fom my kettles, through my chiller, and into my carboy. Which is why I bought this unit. Oh, almost forgot, the air intake on the burners cannot be adjusted due to the way they are cut. Basically, regardless of their position, they let in the same amount of air. Thankfully, they burn fine.
I really like this unit height of the pot is right the burner truly boils a full pot of water in about 35 minutes. The legs are adjustable. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a all in one boiling system.
Have had six boils so far since purchasing from 10-40 lbs . Works as described , fast boil easy cleanup , great cooker , would highly recommend
I purchased this Burner to boil crawfish In a 15 or 20 gallon pot. It does a great job of heating large amounts of tapwater to a rolling boil in just a short time. A regular burner take for ever to heat the water to that extent. The tripod burner is also very stable and has no problem with the amount of weight involved with a pot of water and a sack of crawfish.
I purchased this not knowing what to expect, but AWESOME burner for boiling Crawfish/Crabs.
Completely awesome!!! Get your boil rolling in no time!!!
Purchased an outdoor pot and it was what we expected and even more. Thank you
Great burner. Worked as expected! It brought an 80-quart pot 3/4 full to a rolling boil in 10 minutes. The only compliant I have is when it arrived it was literally falling through the box. It wasn't damaged, but it should have been placed in a heavier box for shipping.
This a great crawfish/shrimp boiler. Got water to boil in about 20 minutes, easy clean up. I actually enjoy the cooking now, not just the eating. Very sturdy and well made.
I bought one and it is so easy to use. My husband had a stoke years ago and only has use of one hand.He loves boiling seafood and is just great for him to use.
Between my cooking partner and I, we've owned 3 of the competitor's dual-sack crawfish boilers and after a few short years, the bottom with the burner tube will totally rust out. We literally bust the base out with our foot. We've concluded that this Outdoor Gourmet boiler was designed to fix all the problems of the competitor's boiler; Stainless steel burner tube and replaceable (not welded), stainless wind plates, nice adjustable heavy duty handles, wheels, proper fittings unlike other that ... simply screws into pipe. Wide drain also nice as did not clog with claws so drains fast w/o constantly cleaning drain. Boiled twice and very, very happy!! Saved $300 from competitor and better product...
I was searching for a large quantity tip-able boiler. All others were well over the $1000 mark. I was a bit hesitant to purchase this because I was afraid the affordable price would mean compromised quality. This boiler was at a rolling boil in 26 minutes (I timed It) I was able to do 90lbs of crawfish faster than our other traditional pot was able to do 30lbs.
Our group of friends get together many times during crawfish season and so far 3 of us each bought one of these. We were able to cook the crawfish quickly and efficiently. Not a lot of clean up either. 5 stars!
I bought one last year for my annual crawfish boil. My first attempt to use it was a fiasco. My regulator wasn't set properly. After a slight adjustment the water came to a roaring boil this year we will post a video with suggestions.
