I recently bought my GX2 four piece travel spinning rod. I took it out to a fresh water lake in Puerto rico on 2/25/2017, can't wait to show you the pictures of two peacock basses I caught. The rod tip bent all the way forward and held up just fine I am very happy. For the price I paid this rod performed well and exceeded my expectations. I recommend the GX2 rod to all fishermen / women.
I purchased this rod to fish for Bull Bluegills. Nice ultralite tip section with a good backbone. I have it matched up with a Quantum Throttle reel.
I've used open face reels for the longest but wanted a good spincast like dad and I used back in the day. I paired this with the Pflueger Trion 10SCB, which is a $70 combo and well worth it. I miss these spin cast reels and use it quite often now. Ugly Stick is known to be strong and dependable, great rods and no since to spend a crazy amount of money when you can get these at such a good price.
I always have liked Ugly stik, and the GX2 no exception. Gave the 7' and the 6' a little overhand swing in the aisle, and the 6' is more easy to control with one hand, but I could definitely tell there was more power in the 7' with two hands. Went with the 6' because it felt better balanced, and love it. I'm going to end up getting a 7' too. I was especially happy with the guides; safe for braid, and don't corrode in salty water!
Used a 7' gx2 medium heavy to haul in 20 +pound snook . It was bent to a full C but didn't break . Just got the 6'6" heavy to get them in the boat faster .
A couple of my friends have swore by the Ugly Stik for years, so I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about. Compared to all the other brands of poles I've used in the past. The GX2 is by far the most sensitive I've used so far. It has the sensitivity to feel the little guy's bite in the streams and creeks where I fish, and strong enough to some of the bigger trout and bass I've caught with it so far. I bought this line for my ice fishing reels and it has performed very well. It is very flexible, strong and sensitive. No complaints here! As an angler that has used monofilament line for over 20 years, I am happy with the switch.
I have been using FireLine for many years for some trolling applications and most of my jigging for walleyes. It is very durable and long lasting, making it cost effective as well as functional. The no stretch construction increases sensitivity and allows for better feel and better hook sets. Being a thinner diameter, it trolls deeper and is less affected by wind. FireLine definitely enhances my fishing success.
I use 12lb in this on my bass setups, and 25 to 30lb. Of this my catfish setups all in solar collector (bright green) color. This line handles everything I hook into as well as helps me locate my line quickly when I am getting a bite. Love it!
I have used Berkley Big Game (40lb) for 8 years here in Uganda where I target Nile perch to +/-100kg. The conditions on the river are difficult, with rocks, submerged trees and weed; this line is the ONLY line I will use having (regrettably) tried other makes when waiting for new stock from the UK/US. It is abrasion resistant whilst being supple. I only wish I could get it in hi-vis pink and blue as well!!
5" and 6" Powerbait Swim Shads are one of my go-to baits for catching big landlocked stripers. Hooks are sharp and baits are durable. The eyes are not always glued on good and you will lose them sometimes. I really hate to see the 5" and 6" models discontinued. C'mon Berkley, bring them back!
I have caught all three species of bass, crappie, trout, rock bass, bluegill and trout on the 2" and 3'" baits. A good value as well as a terrific lure. I have done the best with the (red eye) pearl white pattern. A pause after casting often is needed at times. I do vary the retrieve as dictated by conditions. Thanks!
It's a toss up, live maggots or sparkle nibbles. One thing is for sure, sparkle nibbles always catch crappie thru the ice. Even when the bite is tough, the aggressive ones always hit the nibble.
I used this product to tip an artificial lure. Very good hits. I decided to try the nibbles without a lure and just on a plain gold aberdeen hook with one little nibble on it under a float. Bam! I caught the biggest bluegill I've ever had the pleasure of landing. I noticed when using these nibbles, I only caught large bluegill. I am not sure why but the smaller ones did not touch it, which was good for me. My only issue with this bait was the constant need to place another nibble on the hook. ... Bait does not stay on well and the glitter comes off very easily,,, on your hands and in the water. However, considering the success rate, I find it was worth it.
This is a great line. Will tell others about it !!!
I like this best so far. I think the lack of line memory and ease of handling makes it better than Sunline Sniper. I liked Seagar Invisix, but this handles better and has better knot strength and less stretch. I know it is expensive, but it has held up pretty well for me this year. If you are new to fluorocarbon, do yourself a favor and always use line conditioner.
I bought one of these about a year and a half ago. It's held up amazingly well, and i love it more than my Duckett. I ended up buying 5 more of these. Do yourself a favor and get this rod.
i put a shimano2000r on it with suffix seige 10lb mono line awesome combo
I got one with 6:1 retrieve in May and was so impressed I bought another in June with a lightning fast 8:1 retrieve ratio. I have 12 bait casting reels and after nearly 60 years of casting these are my favorites. The Super Duty handles everything from rubber worms to crank baits to buzz baits with ease. The drag is remarkable, trophy pike are no match for this little reel. Ten pound to 50 pound braided line all cast with ease and the reel is small in the hand and a joy to use. On top of all this ... the price is right. I sincerely believe this reel out performs others at twice the price.
The rod and reel are great, I have already caught 3 bass with it. I could of caught more if the line was stronger, had a couple of the fish snap the line. Everything is great, but I recommend buying stronger line.
I bought this combo and reeled in about a 10lb bass, with a pair of pliers the kit would be solid.
Excellent rod and reel combo for the money. Its one of the rods i always have in my SUV (along with my short dock fishing rod) because I can catch all the fish i fish for with this combo, Trout, Crappie, Bass and Catfish and I don't have to worry about it getting banged around. Its sensitive enough for small pan fish and strong enough for Bass and catfish. I've used live bait and artificial and always with braided line and florocarbon leaders that i change depending on what Im fishing for. I ... have an expensive 7ft 4 inch KVD Tour Spinning Rod and T40 Carbon Reel and the Mitchell is heavier but not by much so its very light and comfortable when casting all day. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
I have this combe for about a year now and I use it most of the time when I fish and it's very durable. I fish remote locations and my equipment takes a beating at times and this combo takes it and still works flawless. The reel is very smooth, easy to use and never tangles. This reel is the backbone of the Penn all purpose saltwater line in my opinion. Quality build, easy to service and repair. Smooth drag and indestructible. Have had mine, (2 of them), for over 15 years and are still as reliable today as the day I bought them. Use them for trolling, kingfish, dolphin, sailfish and grouper as well as conventional bottom fishing for grouper, black bass, grunts, snappers and the "reef donkey" amberjacks. Highly recommend these reels if you want a reliable, all ... purpose reel that you can depend on for years to come. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
i bought a 115L2 Senator (9/0) and matched it with my 9/0 senator boat rod. I loaded the reel down with around 550 yards of 80 lb bullbuster mono and have had a load of fun landing sharks off the beach. Smooth drag, simple and effective designing makes the senator the go to reel for any large fish. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
When you put this hook on a ribbit lure frog...the swim action is great and makes it easy to hook that big bass. I have used them this past summer. I recommend them to anyone who likes fishing top water. Use them and get ready for a show!
Great winter jerk bait rod, small spinner bait , crank bait or grub rod ! I have one for 3 years and they are used a lot! I love them
I have almost all weights, sizes and colors available. My favorite jighead for saltwater soft plastics, the hook is much stronger than regular light wire hooks. also works well for an Alabama rig in freshwater.
These are probably my favorite jig heads. They hold lures well and are strong.
This is the line to buy- hands down! Don't beat up yourself following all that hype around all those other lines out there. It is just wasting your time and money. I've been using Siege from 6lb to 14lb for all my fishing needs and cannot complain one bit. Before you go out and buy 20, 30, 50+ LB lines, go do some research on your target fish and you'll quickly realize a lot of it is overkill. Most often than not, experts will tell you to always go lighter than heavier.
