This is the go-to rod for all kinds of fishing. And you can't beat it for the price. This is by far the best value model rod I've ever purchased, and it has remained my favorite. There are cheaper rods out there, but this one will last you decades without having to baby it. The tip is super fast and sensitive, but the rod is extremely durable. You can set a hook like a man and reel in toads on the ultralight, as well as delicately hook trout. The longer and heavier weight rods still ... have the sensitive tip to pick up on small bass strikes.
I purchased two of the Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning Rods since they come in four sections and are great for traveling. Also, I have other Ugly Stik Rods and have been very satisfied with their performance.
Used a 7' gx2 medium heavy to haul in 20 +pound snook . It was bent to a full C but didn't break . Just got the 6'6" heavy to get them in the boat faster .
I picked up 3 last year of the 7'6'' ML for walleye fishing. Wind was right an the salmon were in shallow water. I dug out some J-plugs and put them to the ultimate test. Backbone for days, rods didn't whine under the pressure. I gave them the most extreme test this year, respooled with 30# braid and using them as pumphandles, hanging a 8oz weight in front of a flasher fly combo. Don't like the trigger deal on the handle, I guess there not made for Lake Michigan salmon trolling. Best rods for the moneys.
After recently snapping my fresh water rod I was looking for a sturdy replacement. I popped into Academy and i knew i wanted a ugly stik which one of my friends suggested them for their extreme durability so i found this one and luckily it was on sale for $10 off but i love this pole ! very durable and still very sensitive I may even get another one while its still on sale !
I bought this line for my ice fishing reels and it has performed very well. It is very flexible, strong and sensitive. No complaints here! As an angler that has used monofilament line for over 20 years, I am happy with the switch.
I have been using FireLine for many years for some trolling applications and most of my jigging for walleyes. It is very durable and long lasting, making it cost effective as well as functional. The no stretch construction increases sensitivity and allows for better feel and better hook sets. Being a thinner diameter, it trolls deeper and is less affected by wind. FireLine definitely enhances my fishing success.
I use 12lb in this on my bass setups, and 25 to 30lb. Of this my catfish setups all in solar collector (bright green) color. This line handles everything I hook into as well as helps me locate my line quickly when I am getting a bite. Love it!
I have used Berkley Big Game (40lb) for 8 years here in Uganda where I target Nile perch to +/-100kg. The conditions on the river are difficult, with rocks, submerged trees and weed; this line is the ONLY line I will use having (regrettably) tried other makes when waiting for new stock from the UK/US. It is abrasion resistant whilst being supple. I only wish I could get it in hi-vis pink and blue as well!!
This is the best bait for fishing when you want to just tie on a lure and throw it out and regardless of how you reel it in it will catch bass/crappie big and small. i went fishn with my brother one day and he grab some shad colored ones and after I say how they just attacked it all day I was sold on them. I found that if you are not using a light action or UL rod you will have trouble with fish gettn off them. These swimbaits do not need much of hook set cause the fish bite on and swims off ... if you jerk it will let go before hook set I just reel down onto the tension and the fish kickn its tall will set the hook if the rod is to stiff they will get off normal.
This is great bait. You catch everything. I got a couple from a friend to test and was really pleased with the results and decided to purchase some. They work great the only issue, and I believe it was due to maybe a "bad batch" the hooks was coming off of the rubbe piece after only a few casts. I lost 7 of the 10 firetigers I purchased in about 5 hours. Other than that the bait is really amazing...5 stars for that, but not to the quality!
Excellent rod and reel combo for the money. Its one of the rods i always have in my SUV (along with my short dock fishing rod) because I can catch all the fish i fish for with this combo, Trout, Crappie, Bass and Catfish and I don't have to worry about it getting banged around. Its sensitive enough for small pan fish and strong enough for Bass and catfish. I've used live bait and artificial and always with braided line and florocarbon leaders that i change depending on what Im fishing for. I ... have an expensive 7ft 4 inch KVD Tour Spinning Rod and T40 Carbon Reel and the Mitchell is heavier but not by much so its very light and comfortable when casting all day. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
Got my start in fishing with these reels 300, 308, 408 and so on as a matter of fact I still have them and they still work well that's a stament in itself with all the new manufacturers to chose from most don't last or perform to expectations [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have only been able to use this rod a few times because of work, but the few times I have I really like it. It is very sensitive. I like a little bit more back bone in the hook set when I am flounder fishing, but it has done the job so far. I really like it for throwing soft plastics at specks. There is no telling how many fish I have missed in the past using one of my other rods. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
This product is amazing sharp hooks, durable and also comes in all the weight's and colors i need i will be spreading the word about this jighead.
I started using these jig heads as soon as they come out. They work really great. The crappie love them. They have not failed to put fish in my boat yet.
When you put this hook on a ribbit lure frog...the swim action is great and makes it easy to hook that big bass. I have used them this past summer. I recommend them to anyone who likes fishing top water. Use them and get ready for a show!
I bought this recently and have caught many fish on it. This lure in black and blue is big time at night. If you fish at night, then you need to have at least two of these in your box.
Casts light lures very well which is a quality that's hard to find. Superb ergonomics and cast quality. Magnetic brakes are nice and strong and have a very linear adjustable range from weakest to strongest. May be the best sub $100 BC reel out there.
It's a toss up, live maggots or sparkle nibbles. One thing is for sure, sparkle nibbles always catch crappie thru the ice. Even when the bite is tough, the aggressive ones always hit the nibble.
I used this product to tip an artificial lure. Very good hits. I decided to try the nibbles without a lure and just on a plain gold aberdeen hook with one little nibble on it under a float. Bam! I caught the biggest bluegill I've ever had the pleasure of landing. I noticed when using these nibbles, I only caught large bluegill. I am not sure why but the smaller ones did not touch it, which was good for me. My only issue with this bait was the constant need to place another nibble on the hook. ... Bait does not stay on well and the glitter comes off very easily,,, on your hands and in the water. However, considering the success rate, I find it was worth it.
I bought a set of these a few years ago and have been looking for another set ever since. They are not easy to find, it turns out. They do best with two rods in them, four is a little crowded. I put the kids rods in them and suction cup the holder to a flat backed tackle box and I have all their gear in one hand. I also use them on the boat to store the rods. One of the suction cups did pop of the holder but a little super glue and it has held up for over 2 years now. I'm glad I found them again!
I needed extra equipment on a budget and chose this rod. I currently use four of these along side a $100 rod and frankly can not tell the difference in performance. I tournament bass fish several times a month and would highly recommend this rod to my friends.
I bought my first Tournament Choice many years ago. I believe these rods can compare to any. I have some expensive rods and I like these as well. I just put a vintage 4500C on a 6 footer. Very nice.
I bought these some of these a couple months back just to see how they work and on my first cast with one I reeled in a 9 in. smallmouth bass followed by a 14 in. smallmouth. I like the Pit Boss, but as of right now this is my main bait for the fall bass love it just as much as I do!! #giveaway #contest [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Last season I used the subwoofer for both large and smallmouth morning noon and night. One night at dusk on seventeen consecutive cast I caught 17 largemouth in the 3 to 4 1/2 LB range in Canada. Try it you'll love it. Works great on Walleye too
I used many punch baits before and cj is one of the best. Ive tried all flavors and they all produce good results. Only thing i would suggest is to use a furry thing by team catfish. It helps keeps the bait on longer, a great bait at a great price
Have been buying this Brand and size for years and it has never let me down. Almost all of it has been in saltwater use.
