I've been using 14 pound test FireLine on all my inshore spinning reels for over 10 years (first the original smoke color and since its introduction, FireLine Crystal). I use it for bucktailing fluke, bouncing soft plastics for striped bass and weakfish, jigging up porgies, sea bass, and bluefish, and skipping metals across the surface for false albacore...it has always performed flawlessly! I get asked all the time, "With the thin diameter of braid, why don't you use 20 or 30 pound test?" I ... tell them that I have never, EVER, broke a fish off due to line failure! That includes incidental catches of 40+ pound cownose rays and gorilla 15+ pound bluefish. My grandpa once landed a double header keeper striped bass 28 inches and 8 pound bluefish on 14 pound test FireLine and then landed a 13 pound fluke on the next cast with the same outfit. FireLine is a proven performer in my eyes!
I have been using FireLine for many years for some trolling applications and most of my jigging for walleyes. It is very durable and long lasting, making it cost effective as well as functional. The no stretch construction increases sensitivity and allows for better feel and better hook sets. Being a thinner diameter, it trolls deeper and is less affected by wind. FireLine definitely enhances my fishing success.
We have been in the Charter Business for 61 years always with Penn Reels!! The Penn Squall is a Great reel, smooth drag lighter than GTI 320 our Customers love it's look and feel! Great Job Penn. Coho Charters Since 1956.
I use these as every day light duty bottom fishing reels for my customers. They are perfect, and have even done well on some larger fish and sharks. Highly recommend this reel.
I bought this 2 years ago, loaded it up with 15lb braided line and casts a mile with light lures. I have 40 fishing rods (7) are Mitchell's this one is great. I will say previously the rods aren't the quality the reels are but this 7 ft rod works really nice. Great combo I'd buy more but my wife tells me I'm on a rod and reel suspension. Lol
Excellent rod and reel combo for the money. Its one of the rods i always have in my SUV (along with my short dock fishing rod) because I can catch all the fish i fish for with this combo, Trout, Crappie, Bass and Catfish and I don't have to worry about it getting banged around. Its sensitive enough for small pan fish and strong enough for Bass and catfish. I've used live bait and artificial and always with braided line and florocarbon leaders that i change depending on what Im fishing for. I ... have an expensive 7ft 4 inch KVD Tour Spinning Rod and T40 Carbon Reel and the Mitchell is heavier but not by much so its very light and comfortable when casting all day. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
Light weight and strong. Very sensitive. I've had this rod for 3 years and still love it. It has literally caught me a ton of fish.
I first bought this rod at the end of our fishing season last year, was so impressed with it that I just ordered four more, 1 spinning and 3 casting. Can't wait to receive them so I can put them to the test.
I purchased This last spring in 2015 and fished it all summer and into the winter. The reel is smooth and reliable not heavy and easy to cast. The retrieve is smooth and fast this reel is all about reliability and functions very well even under heavy use. The pole is rigid enough to cast far yet light enough to finess even the smallest lures. I highly recommend this as a go to pole. The best part it's quality without breaking the bank. I fish the Dularge area a lot and this year this is all the speckled trout want. Matrix Shad Magneto. The last six times I went fishing I only used the Matrix Shad Magneto and limited out each time. This bait works great.
This is a very popular bait in south Louisiana and I understand why. I threw this bait exclusively my last two fishing trips and caught a total of 10 slot reds. These are excellent baits for red fish, trout, and flounder. I tend to pair them with an 1/8 oz jig head and often an inline or jig spinner. Many people fish them under a popping cork with success as well. My favorite colors are Green Hornet and Midnight Mullet
This is the go to rods for trolling for crappie. Great light rod with responsive action.
I use Smelly Jelly on most of my baits it give you a little extra when the bite is slow
I purchased my first container of this a little over a month ago. I have gone through 2 of these now resulting in about 30 Channel Cats.
Great to catch the fish with. Used drift fishing in the lake.
I got the hooks to be able to get on these fish rite here
I've had this stuff for a long time and use it all of the time. I don't leave home without this. get yourself a can of BANG and you'll see the results.
I bought this rod as a tribute to our veterans. I host a tournament (fund raiser) each year, and this year I gave this rod to the highest finishing veteran/first responder. He was emotional, I got emotional. There wasn't a dry eye on the ramp. If you enjoy fishing, your vets are making it possible. Pay them back! Thank a vet!
nice rod it is very sensitive and it dosen't break
The eyes are great , look great under water an the Gold goes with most colors !
I bought this from an Academy in North Texas. I took it out yesterday and used it with a 1/4 oz. jig head and got 8 and lost four to five more. Great action between the ribs and paddle tail. I am very pleased. I do wish it was a little more durable but I still will give this 5 stars based on production.
I bought this months ago, and only recently did I realize its AMAZING! Went fish spearing and caught around 5 fish. Stick is great, but can be slippery at times.
I used this bait on a high pressured lake was fishing a creek channel where water depths ranged from 15,12, and 8 feet this bait with the flat profile and no rattles is really what set this bait apart from all the baits that were used that day some that were similar but not quite the same shape and even matched bait fish colors and not one bite until I started fishing with this bait in the Tennessee shad color not sure if it was the color shape or vibration that it put off that made it better ... than those similar to it but this bait sent them into a frenzy.
Bought this in neon bluegill color and fished it postspawn. The bass couldn't stand it, one of the best days fishing ever!
I thought I would try one of these since seeing Chris Lane whacking them on the St. John's river. These are really nice rod, they are light and seem strong too. Haven't fished too much but with what I have done I have been very satisfied. Keep up the good work All Star!
I bought one before and loved it so much I had to have another of the exact same thing. Casting is effortless and the most accurate ever for me.
Great product to enhance the scent of all artificial lures. Smells awful, but the fish can't get enough. Here is a pic of my buddy catching a flounder after putting some on an artificial mullet.
I won't go to the coast without it. IT WORKS. !!!!!!!
