I've been using 14 pound test FireLine on all my inshore spinning reels for over 10 years (first the original smoke color and since its introduction, FireLine Crystal). I use it for bucktailing fluke, bouncing soft plastics for striped bass and weakfish, jigging up porgies, sea bass, and bluefish, and skipping metals across the surface for false albacore...it has always performed flawlessly! I get asked all the time, "With the thin diameter of braid, why don't you use 20 or 30 pound test?" I ... tell them that I have never, EVER, broke a fish off due to line failure! That includes incidental catches of 40+ pound cownose rays and gorilla 15+ pound bluefish. My grandpa once landed a double header keeper striped bass 28 inches and 8 pound bluefish on 14 pound test FireLine and then landed a 13 pound fluke on the next cast with the same outfit. FireLine is a proven performer in my eyes!
8lb test spinning combo... This line casts a mile and can be super strong. However, you have to be careful on the knots you use and constantly monitor for abrasion by the lure or swivel b/c the line breaks VERY easily once it is frayed the slightest bit. I paid a lot for it and will stick with it for now but I will not buy again. I lost a nice bucktail for reason as the line snapped when casting... the line had less than one hour of fishing on it! Other than worrying about my line breaking it's great.
I bought a 4000 size reel for fishing off the beach. Love it! Very durable and strong. Caught lady fish and small blacktip sharks. Handled very well!
Purchased this 7000 Series for Salmon fishing on the Great Lakes. It worked flawlessly! Probably a little bit of overkill for this type of fishing. I cannot wait to use it pier fishing or surf fishing on the Outer Banks. Overall, a great heavy freshwater, or medium/heavy saltwater combo. I've been using Penn products for over 35 years. For the money, you cannot go wrong with any one of the combos in the Pursuit II series.
Light weight and strong. Very sensitive. I've had this rod for 3 years and still love it. It has literally caught me a ton of fish.
I use mainly Kistler rods and After I bought my wife and Abu Garcia rod, I caught myself using it every time she wasn't with me. I purchased a 7'11" casting deep cranking Veracity rod and a 7' spinning Veracity rod. I've been very impressed by their castability and performance. It's hard to compete with the price.
I fish the Dularge area a lot and this year this is all the speckled trout want. Matrix Shad Magneto. The last six times I went fishing I only used the Matrix Shad Magneto and limited out each time. This bait works great.
I tried out this bait a few weeks ago and, boy oh boy, it was non-stop action with the sandbass and stripers. I used it with a 1/2 oz chartreuse round-head jig. Irresistible swim tail action!
I love my Ardent Pro bait casting reel. These reels have worked great for me in all conditions, wet, windy, sunny and dry and hot! They have not let me down, while others are picking at theirs, I am casting away.
I've used this reel all of 2014 very happy with the performance, fit, feel switched all my other reels to Ardent.
Booyah has a real winner with it's Padcrasher series. Not only are the Padcrashers fish catching machines, but they are also considerably less expensive than the other brands such as Spro. My personal best bass (9lb-15oz.) was caught this spring on a Bullfrog colored Padcrasher. The only two improvements I would suggest are to cut off 1/2 to 1 inch of the legs and open up the gap of the hooks (which are Gamakatsu by the way) to increase the strike to hook up ratio. I have a padcrasher that has ... caught over 75 bass and it is still going strong.
I have had this frog for awhile now and it has always done good for me. Works very well on the thick and in open water for its popping action. Definitely way worth the price and coming highly recommended from me.
very happy with purchase. thanks and I will make another order soon
I am getting positive results trolling slowly even in the heat of summer. Speckled perch are attracted to this lure.
Bought this to put on my Toyota truck bed rail system to hold my rods instead of laying them in the bed. This way I could carry 12 rods and reels and still have the bed of the truck for other cargo. I mounted 4 of them on to the bed rail system with stainless steal bots, nuts and washers without having to drill a single hole. Works great and looks cool
I started throwing these about a year ago and they are my go to for crappie, and sometimes even catch bluegill and bass! They flat out catch fish. Sometimes you need to slow down or speed up your reeling speed but there are no fancy movements in retrieving this bait. The salt and pepper is my go to confidence bait and have never gone home empty handed when throwing one of these bad boys.
These are awesome Crappie baits. Takes very little movement and even a slow retrieve will get the curly tail spinning like crazy. Caught my personal best Black Crappie and White Crappie on these. Order any color as long as it has Chartreuse in it
Best hook for any inshore jig head hands down!!! Try them.
i bought a pack of these and threw grass pigs on them and jigged them arounf in beds and hammered bedding bass
I have used several different brands of finesse worms and I always come back to these. They are durable and have great action. They catch fish, that's what matters to me. I just wished academy carried a few more colors.
have used very much very effective on a drop shot. just great worm
I bought this a month ago and they shipped it to my house on time. I added my Daiwa reel to this, went to the lake in Sabine Pass and got some fish. I have several rods that have more than 7 foot for 2 pieces but this is 6'-6" one piece. I am happy with my own new rod.
I bought it a couple months ago,and it has performed well.
I love this stuff... Easy to apply... You don't need that much and stays on a long time... I also pinch off a small amount and add it to my bulk plastics bags... I'm a firm believer Ina good scent...
These are awesome for anything plastic. The swivel allows movement in current that I believe makes a difference. Very easy to use. A little pricey though.
A Great and reasonably priced jig head, my soft plastic baits never slip and I've caught everything that swims down here in the Florida inshore waters on them.
Very nice swivels..You cant beat mustad for quality and inovation
