i bought this reel right when they came out so probably 2-3 years i have never serviced it and i have beat it up pretty badly, its been dunked in the surf, dragged through the sand, dropped and i dont know what else, it is scratched,it is dinged up, and all i ever do is rinse it with fresh water when i get home and grease the shaft once in a great while. i have caught many many fish with this reel including big yellow tail and some huge 20 pound plus ling cod and this reel is still smooth as ... butter and i would definitely reccomend it to anyone!
I bought 2 2500s for use on my kayak inshore fishing for reds and specs. To date I've landed 100s of trout up to 26" and dozens of reds to 27" and both reels are still kicking it. They habe seen exclusive saltwater fishing and have each fine under a time or two. A fresh water rinse at home and an anti corrosion treatment and they're both good to go. Next up is a model 1000 to go ultra light for reds.
I've been using Fire Line for 3 years now jigging for big Walleyes and I have had better success with the brighter colors so you can watch when you have a bite. It is very strong and casts a long way and doesn't take up much room on your reel. My partner and I are lucky to get into the 30 inch club two years ago using fire lines and wouldn't use anything else on the Bay of Green Bay
I bought this line for my ice fishing reels and it has performed very well. It is very flexible, strong and sensitive. No complaints here! As an angler that has used monofilament line for over 20 years, I am happy with the switch.
This works awesome on my Tundra 125 with the tie down straps. I have one on each side. If you wrap the straps around the lower part of the rod holder and tie them off, it becomes rigid enough to hold a net, or rigged rod while you setup or land fish. You could probably even troll from it. Great design.
Rod holder is sweet for my fly rod, like the side notch to be able to skip the rod in since not much of a butt. My only complaint is I can't use my tie down strap now with the rod holder in place, or at least I have not figured out how to use both at the same time.
We have been in the Charter Business for 61 years always with Penn Reels!! The Penn Squall is a Great reel, smooth drag lighter than GTI 320 our Customers love it's look and feel! Great Job Penn. Coho Charters Since 1956.
I have been useing pen squalls for the past 3 years on a professional and personal level. I own and operate a salmon charter on lake michigan and put all of my faith in theses reels. The stand up to brute 20 plus lbs kings and day in and day out use. Very economical reel!
I purchased This last spring in 2015 and fished it all summer and into the winter. The reel is smooth and reliable not heavy and easy to cast. The retrieve is smooth and fast this reel is all about reliability and functions very well even under heavy use. The pole is rigid enough to cast far yet light enough to finess even the smallest lures. I highly recommend this as a go to pole. The best part it's quality without breaking the bank. I bought this reel for trout fishing. It is excellent!!
I have had all different kinds of baitcasting reels, this is by far the best. Smooth, tough, and casts further than any other of my reels, which some of the we're twice the money! Best value would recommend.
bought these and ordered some more this i 1 of my go to baits for saclat
very competitive prices, and all the latest lures, fast shipping, user friendly web-site
There are a lot of imitations, look alikes and wanna be's out there. But the Smithwick Rattlin' Rogue is the real thing. Great action and fishability. Not only for Bass but Redfish attack these lures with a vengeance.
Best hook for any inshore jig head hands down!!! Try them.
Last month, my son and I got into a bunch of snook at the end of a day. Earlier in the day and up to that point, we had a number of pull outs with another hook. Since I got these the day before, we threw them on and got 12 snook in about 30 minutes without a single pull out.
Holds shrimp and chunk bait on the hook. Also no need to set the hook just start reeling and the fish is caught
Bought this to put on my Toyota truck bed rail system to hold my rods instead of laying them in the bed. This way I could carry 12 rods and reels and still have the bed of the truck for other cargo. I mounted 4 of them on to the bed rail system with stainless steal bots, nuts and washers without having to drill a single hole. Works great and looks cool
I fish out of PA along the eastern seaboard, NC down into FL. The slow sinking maniac mullet absolutely slayed some reds on my recent trip to Jacksonville, FL. So glad I got some of these!!
great lure for saltwater speckled trout or red fish, I used it in the Galveston Texas area.
I bought these the other day and first cast I had a nice hook up. The action of the tail is the best I've used. Great imitation and colors are amazing.
Great weight and buoyancy for skipping under trees and dock... also works in heavy cover or open water, the action of this bait is amazing and almost effortless
Great all around bait that holds up well too trout, reds, and even flatties. With great action and multiple ways to work it to get it out in front of a monster.
Trout seem to really love these in the surf, let sink 3 second, pop a couple of times and keep the slack out off, the hit on the fall
Good hook and I have been using it for a while and it still is the best.
These frogs are good, they walk across the water easily and before you know it a fish is hitting your lure. The first day i bought the lure my first cast I hit a bass.
The Pad Crusher is one of my favorite Hollow body frog! Easy to walk, good strong hooks, and durable body that catches bass.
Excellent product. Would highly recommend if you have never tried them.
Bought to catch specs but warmouths loved them! Nice
After hearing good things about these I decided to buy a pack. I went to my local lake and wasn't having any luck for hours using various types of lures. I tied on one of these and caught four bass in 20 minutes, I was hooked. They could be more durable, but for the price it's hard to complain. Do not buy any other beaver type lure, these are the best.
This lure has an amazing action to it, but the only small problem with it is that it is very soft and may rip after a couple bass caught. I also caught my personal best in this lure. 5 pounds.
