Only had this out twice, but it is just what I wanted for my Super Spook. Casts a 1/4 oz practice lure 40 yards into the wind with 10# braid. Two piece lets me store in car and kayak. Now my fishing friend wants to borrow all the time.
This is the go-to rod for all kinds of fishing. And you can't beat it for the price. This is by far the best value model rod I've ever purchased, and it has remained my favorite. There are cheaper rods out there, but this one will last you decades without having to baby it. The tip is super fast and sensitive, but the rod is extremely durable. You can set a hook like a man and reel in toads on the ultralight, as well as delicately hook trout. The longer and heavier weight rods still ... have the sensitive tip to pick up on small bass strikes.
5 uses that was a terrible exp my bad man I believe you just got a defective real I suggest take your trusted back up for sure but if your a true fishermen give old ugly gx2 another chance I am so confident in mine I won't use nothing but in fact contact shakesphere customer serv explain this to them I bet they will send you a brand new one free of charge that shouldn't have happened I believe was isolated bad real my friend
I worked for a camp in Maine as a fishing instructor this past summer and I purchased this rod/reel combo as an instructor rod. Both parts stood up to daily heavy use for 7 weeks straight, and once I got home I purchased one for my personal use in Ohio and Pennsylvania. I love this rod for trout fishing while backpacking in PA, and for light fishing in streams and out on Lake Erie. A few of my friends have purchased this rod to use with their preferred reels, but I have found no issues with the ... stock reel, I love this combo (especially with 6lb Berkley vanish)!
I picked up this combo during the rod riot sale recently and got it for pretty cheap. The rod is really good, strong and just right for all your fishing needs, The reel is just ok, basic Shakespeare stuff. I love Ugly Stick, just not a fan of Shakespeare reels. You can't go wrong with this combo.
I love the ugly stick i have two i recommend this to a beginner
IN my first review, I stated how my friends are looking at the HMX version, as fenwick stopped making the HMG version. Well, my rod broke, Fenwick originally replaced the rod with the 6'0 ML version. I sent it back to them and received the 6'0 Lite-2 piece version. It is not as sensitive as the 5'3 version. I did buy three of the HMX versions for my sons and my brother in law. We shall see how this season pans out with the 6 ft version.
I purchased a new 6'3" HMG rod for throwing 1/8 and 1/4 ounce jigs and this rod really delivers with finesse and backbone! Easily throws a jig long distance with 4# test and then has the backbone to land fish of 2-5 pounds without any trouble. I typically use 4'9" or 5' rods for jigging but... this has become my "go to" rod for all jigging applications for trout and walleye. You can't go wrong with this rod! I've used open face reels for the longest but wanted a good spincast like dad and I used back in the day. I paired this with the Pflueger Trion 10SCB, which is a $70 combo and well worth it. I miss these spin cast reels and use it quite often now. Ugly Stick is known to be strong and dependable, great rods and no since to spend a crazy amount of money when you can get these at such a good price.
I always have liked Ugly stik, and the GX2 no exception. Gave the 7' and the 6' a little overhand swing in the aisle, and the 6' is more easy to control with one hand, but I could definitely tell there was more power in the 7' with two hands. Went with the 6' because it felt better balanced, and love it. I'm going to end up getting a 7' too. I was especially happy with the guides; safe for braid, and don't corrode in salty water!
Good rod at a great price. For those on a budget you can't beat the quality and price.
I picked up 3 last year of the 7'6'' ML for walleye fishing. Wind was right an the salmon were in shallow water. I dug out some J-plugs and put them to the ultimate test. Backbone for days, rods didn't whine under the pressure. I gave them the most extreme test this year, respooled with 30# braid and using them as pumphandles, hanging a 8oz weight in front of a flasher fly combo. Don't like the trigger deal on the handle, I guess there not made for Lake Michigan salmon trolling. Best rods for the moneys.
This Falcon rod has excellent durability without sacrificing sensitivity. You can feel the fish bite and it has the muscle to help with setting the hook.
This rod is very light and responsive, awsome rod for using in the Gulf while wading. I use it to catch trout and reds while wading. I can cast all day using bass assassins or similar lures. Great price also.
I bought this for my Grandson. This is his first good fishing setup. The rod and reel are perfect size for him.
Bought this combo set for my son, he didn't want to go, so I used it along with another rod I got. The size was actually better for me than the one I bought for myself. The reel is smooth, reels nicely. Kind of a sharp little rod. Caught a 27.5" 8.5 LB Lake trout with it, opening day.
I bought a set of these a few years ago and have been looking for another set ever since. They are not easy to find, it turns out. They do best with two rods in them, four is a little crowded. I put the kids rods in them and suction cup the holder to a flat backed tackle box and I have all their gear in one hand. I also use them on the boat to store the rods. One of the suction cups did pop of the holder but a little super glue and it has held up for over 2 years now. I'm glad I found them again!
I have only been able to use this rod a few times because of work, but the few times I have I really like it. It is very sensitive. I like a little bit more back bone in the hook set when I am flounder fishing, but it has done the job so far. I really like it for throwing soft plastics at specks. There is no telling how many fish I have missed in the past using one of my other rods. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
This rod performs very well and is built with top craftsmanship. It is light but strong and sensitive.
Use it for wade fishing as well as the boat using plastics and small spooks. Pulls in reds, trout, and black drum and has awesome flex
Very light, good action. Highly recommended for shallow salt water fishing.
This works extremely well and ive hunted many water dwelling animal with it.
Good hooks, sharp and keeps frogs up right bring through weeds..
After hearing good things about these I decided to buy a pack. I went to my local lake and wasn't having any luck for hours using various types of lures. I tied on one of these and caught four bass in 20 minutes, I was hooked. They could be more durable, but for the price it's hard to complain. Do not buy any other beaver type lure, these are the best.
Been fishing the Beaver for some time now. I fish it like a jig or worm around docks and it does a great job. It skips like a bullet.
Bought this 1 month ago for my son's birthday present. He loves it. Cast further now and he says that it is sensitive enough that he can fill every nibble on his line.
the white bass have been gathering up in huge schools here lately in deeper water, 25-40 foot, depending on the current flow we use the 1/2 up to the 1 oz and the whites cant stand it . 3 trips in a row with 100+ whites in the boat before noon ! along with hybrids, yellows,LM,walleye ,drum and catfish. absolute go to lures for deep vertical jigging!
I have been killing them with this jig spoon. What makes this one different is that when it is on the way down it actually stops and it flutters all over the place. It's great for schooling bass also. I cast into the school and yo-yo it back. I found the hooks to be too big and replaced them with quality smaller ones.
I use this combo all the time. I never have any issues & it always loved up to my expectations. It's is an amazing combo and I would not use any other.
I bought this as a part of a wedding gift to my wife and i and we had fun with it stronger than you think it is. This was hours before we saw th justice of peace.
