This is the go-to rod for all kinds of fishing. And you can't beat it for the price. This is by far the best value model rod I've ever purchased, and it has remained my favorite. There are cheaper rods out there, but this one will last you decades without having to baby it. The tip is super fast and sensitive, but the rod is extremely durable. You can set a hook like a man and reel in toads on the ultralight, as well as delicately hook trout. The longer and heavier weight rods still ... have the sensitive tip to pick up on small bass strikes.
I started using Ugly Styks 15 months ago & I just love these rods.It has really improved my catch from what it was before I stated using them. The tip of the rod is so keen & I really feel the presence of the fish so I am always ready to set the hook. Such a good rod for the price.
5 uses that was a terrible exp my bad man I believe you just got a defective real I suggest take your trusted back up for sure but if your a true fishermen give old ugly gx2 another chance I am so confident in mine I won't use nothing but in fact contact shakesphere customer serv explain this to them I bet they will send you a brand new one free of charge that shouldn't have happened I believe was isolated bad real my friend
When looking to buy an Ugly Stik I waa immediately attracted to this pole. The coloring and clear tip, the size of the pole, the smoothness of the reel. I bought it that day and have been using it for months now. I was worried about hooking a fatter fish and how the pole would stand up to it, I hooked a 25 inch Northern Pike on 4 lb test and had no issues. Even a decent sized walleye in quick current was a breeze. I'd recommend it to any beginner or someone who wants something light and easy.
I picked up this combo during the rod riot sale recently and got it for pretty cheap. The rod is really good, strong and just right for all your fishing needs, The reel is just ok, basic Shakespeare stuff. I love Ugly Stick, just not a fan of Shakespeare reels. You can't go wrong with this combo.
I love the ugly stick i have two i recommend this to a beginner
I have fallen in love with fenwick. Ive always been a St.Croix guy until my first eagle. Now i use the hmx, hmg, eagle, and one croix.
Some of the rods I ever had in will more soon the best rods
I've used open face reels for the longest but wanted a good spincast like dad and I used back in the day. I paired this with the Pflueger Trion 10SCB, which is a $70 combo and well worth it. I miss these spin cast reels and use it quite often now. Ugly Stick is known to be strong and dependable, great rods and no since to spend a crazy amount of money when you can get these at such a good price.
Just bought mine 2 days ago, I have already pulled in 51 bass on this bad boy. Its such a good pole and has great flex. I will buy at least a couple more
After recently snapping my fresh water rod I was looking for a sturdy replacement. I popped into Academy and i knew i wanted a ugly stik which one of my friends suggested them for their extreme durability so i found this one and luckily it was on sale for $10 off but i love this pole ! very durable and still very sensitive I may even get another one while its still on sale !
I've been using this jig in these hot days in deep water on drops and points and the bass can't handle it. Amazing Jig
Casts light lures very well which is a quality that's hard to find. Superb ergonomics and cast quality. Magnetic brakes are nice and strong and have a very linear adjustable range from weakest to strongest. May be the best sub $100 BC reel out there.
Bought this 1 month ago for my son's birthday present. He loves it. Cast further now and he says that it is sensitive enough that he can fill every nibble on his line.
the white bass have been gathering up in huge schools here lately in deeper water, 25-40 foot, depending on the current flow we use the 1/2 up to the 1 oz and the whites cant stand it . 3 trips in a row with 100+ whites in the boat before noon ! along with hybrids, yellows,LM,walleye ,drum and catfish. absolute go to lures for deep vertical jigging!
I have been killing them with this jig spoon. What makes this one different is that when it is on the way down it actually stops and it flutters all over the place. It's great for schooling bass also. I cast into the school and yo-yo it back. I found the hooks to be too big and replaced them with quality smaller ones.
The pyramid sinkers will be good for bottom rig fishing for sturgeons in California Delta. The sinkers arrived fast! Highly recommended.
Cant beat these pyramid weights (in any size) for Texas coastal fishing.
these add that extra little bit of weight to help your cast, and are easy to attach. love 'em
Very light, good action. Highly recommended for shallow salt water fishing.
Use it for wade fishing as well as the boat using plastics and small spooks. Pulls in reds, trout, and black drum and has awesome flex
This Falcon rod has excellent durability without sacrificing sensitivity. You can feel the fish bite and it has the muscle to help with setting the hook.
This rod is very light and responsive, awsome rod for using in the Gulf while wading. I use it to catch trout and reds while wading. I can cast all day using bass assassins or similar lures. Great price also.
90% of all my fishing tackle comes from Academy. They have the products I need, all the right colors AND at the right price. My orders always arrive fast and correct.
Have been happy with Costa for years but after trying these, I'll never go back. Just wait til you see the water bead off the Carl Zeiss lenses!
Can't beat the value on these, and they are perfect for fishing for channel cats with punch bait. Don't have to worry about losing these in snags or the rip rap. Small enough to not give too much resistance to a channel which might cause them to spit the hook out before you can set it. I tell everyone to use these if they are trying to catch channel cats on punch bait, dough bait, or cheese bait.
Great for live minnow fishing with a 1/4 oz. egg sinker. That size weight with this float makes little resistance to the fish bite. My favorite crappie rig.
i bought this fishing pole and i would have to say that it payed off big time, just because it is a small rod does not mean that i doesn`t catch big fish. I`ve caught some pretty big catfish using this rod and reel, and Zebco is a very good company, so i would recommend getting this fishing kit. Its also a very good kit, rod, and reel for the price.
65 yrd 8# Cajun spray on some line conditioner, grease & oil. Kid reels in some nice perch and the line does not "bind". The next cast is as good as the first.
