I have been useing c3 c4 and record reels for over 30 years. They are great durable and depedable reels . Very well built and the best part for me is the line guide moving when you cast, you get better and longer casts and better line lay. They work great with either mono or braid. And the 4601 is a great crank bait reel the perfect gear ratio for crankbaits and slow rolling spinnerbaits. I use them for bass, pike, catfish , muskie and have never had a problem with them. I tried a revo sx and ... didn't like it at all its going on craigs list can cast just as far with my c3 4601 or my c4 4601 and 5601.
I have 3 ABU Reels, But this is my favorie, I handles Cobia which is my test of a good reel, I fish NC Offshore waters and own 36 Outfits, I Hesitated to buy this reel because of the affordable price, but boy was I surprised, don't hesitate to buy, I spooled mine with 20lb mono and I would fell comfortable fighting any saltwater fish I know of, 50 yrs on the water and I Love this reel.
i bought this reel right when they came out so probably 2-3 years i have never serviced it and i have beat it up pretty badly, its been dunked in the surf, dragged through the sand, dropped and i dont know what else, it is scratched,it is dinged up, and all i ever do is rinse it with fresh water when i get home and grease the shaft once in a great while. i have caught many many fish with this reel including big yellow tail and some huge 20 pound plus ling cod and this reel is still smooth as ... butter and i would definitely reccomend it to anyone!
I bought the 3000 series and so far I'm loving it. Paired it with a 7' medium heavy rod mostly for largemouth and some inshore in Florida. It casts and retrieves great.I spooled it with 10# braid. The small bass araren't even a struggle. I will probably purchase the 5000 for catfish. The only reason I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I expected it to be a little smoother. But its not bad enough to bother me for the work it puts out.
We have been in the Charter Business for 61 years always with Penn Reels!! The Penn Squall is a Great reel, smooth drag lighter than GTI 320 our Customers love it's look and feel! Great Job Penn. Coho Charters Since 1956.
I purchased the Squall 20 Level Wind reel over a year ago. I've used it all of this past season, fishing in the back bay for flounder, near shore waters for flounder, sea bass and sea trout. I used it in the fall for the striped bass run. The reel performed flawlessly in every situation. I've found it to be an excellent addition to my arsenal and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good looking, versatile, workhorse. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Been fishing them since they came out and you can use them on a single hook, behind a jig, on a spinner bait or chatter bait, but the best thing to remember is to use them. They catch a lot of fish , but not in the bag. What a great bait with great action, with lots of smell, just don't put them in a coat pocket.
Bought these for jig trailers plenty of bulk with huge claws. Swims with a lot of action. I'm sure would work well fished alone.
good for catching any types of fish<cought 85 pound blue gill and loved it
I bought the trion ultralight rod and taught myself how to fish with it. I have used it exclusively for two seasons now and put it through heck, and it is still going strong. Have caught hundreds of smallmouth bass on it and even some walleye and largemouth (on ultralight gear!). I also threw 10lb braid on it. I feel like it should be broken by now, but it keeps going. Will likely purchase a heavier action rod from this same line for largemouth fishing.
Excellent rod and reel combo for the money. Its one of the rods i always have in my SUV (along with my short dock fishing rod) because I can catch all the fish i fish for with this combo, Trout, Crappie, Bass and Catfish and I don't have to worry about it getting banged around. Its sensitive enough for small pan fish and strong enough for Bass and catfish. I've used live bait and artificial and always with braided line and florocarbon leaders that i change depending on what Im fishing for. I ... have an expensive 7ft 4 inch KVD Tour Spinning Rod and T40 Carbon Reel and the Mitchell is heavier but not by much so its very light and comfortable when casting all day. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
Bought it as soon as it came out. I have numerous types of mitchell reels, 4420, spidercast sc30, 308 7 in total all of them are affordable, smooth and solid never had issues and i use them every weekend in the summer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this rod as a tribute to our veterans. I host a tournament (fund raiser) each year, and this year I gave this rod to the highest finishing veteran/first responder. He was emotional, I got emotional. There wasn't a dry eye on the ramp. If you enjoy fishing, your vets are making it possible. Pay them back! Thank a vet!
nice rod it is very sensitive and it dosen't break
I love this stuff... Easy to apply... You don't need that much and stays on a long time... I also pinch off a small amount and add it to my bulk plastics bags... I'm a firm believer Ina good scent...
Bought this to put on my Toyota truck bed rail system to hold my rods instead of laying them in the bed. This way I could carry 12 rods and reels and still have the bed of the truck for other cargo. I mounted 4 of them on to the bed rail system with stainless steal bots, nuts and washers without having to drill a single hole. Works great and looks cool
I like using these with Secret 7. My fav colors is red and yellow. Baits load in the holes easy and stay inside the tube until a cat smacks it hard. SUPER GREAT HOOKS too. Both treble and J hooks.
This dip really holds the bait well. It is best used with Secret 7 but i used it with catfish charlie just fine. It is sturdy and the j hook is excellent quality. You wont be dissapointed.
I recently purchased 2 Waterloo Rods. One bait casting Salinty and one Phanthom spinning rod. They are very light with quick tips, but yet have strong backbones. Both allow me to to cast better and further. I highly recommend these rods.
I bought this rod combo not knowing it was a youth but I use it anyways. The reel has a nice feel and action and the rod is very durable. I use it for trout and bass and haven't had any problems.
I bought this for my Grandson. This is his first good fishing setup. The rod and reel are perfect size for him.
very happy with purchase. thanks and I will make another order soon
I purchased my first container of this a little over a month ago. I have gone through 2 of these now resulting in about 30 Channel Cats.
Great to catch the fish with. Used drift fishing in the lake.
I used this bait on a high pressured lake was fishing a creek channel where water depths ranged from 15,12, and 8 feet this bait with the flat profile and no rattles is really what set this bait apart from all the baits that were used that day some that were similar but not quite the same shape and even matched bait fish colors and not one bite until I started fishing with this bait in the Tennessee shad color not sure if it was the color shape or vibration that it put off that made it better ... than those similar to it but this bait sent them into a frenzy.
Bought this in neon bluegill color and fished it postspawn. The bass couldn't stand it, one of the best days fishing ever!
It was a gift for my Girlfriend and she loves it.. It's easy to use and she has caught a few fish on it and it works well for blue hills and Walleyes ...I will definitely be telling all my friends and family to buy one!
Great pole! I love the matte black look of the pole with the pink chrome accents. I get a lot of distance on my cast compared to other reels I have used. I do tend to get tangled quite a bit at the tip but nothing I can't handle. I am totally loving my new pole. The only thing it is lacking would be some kind of bite indicator.
I bought these the other day and first cast I had a nice hook up. The action of the tail is the best I've used. Great imitation and colors are amazing.
Great weight and buoyancy for skipping under trees and dock... also works in heavy cover or open water, the action of this bait is amazing and almost effortless
Ordered these needing some bigger hooks, when I got them I realized they were also a heavier hook too. Very good so far, handle snags and fish flawlessy
Great hooks. But found out that Eagle Claws and other manufacturers don't use the same dimension on the same size. Ex: Mustad circle hooks size 14/0 is two size smaller than Eagle Claw circle hooks size 13/0. Could not find the hook dimension chart from either manufacturers.
