I recently bought my GX2 four piece travel spinning rod. I took it out to a fresh water lake in Puerto rico on 2/25/2017, can't wait to show you the pictures of two peacock basses I caught. The rod tip bent all the way forward and held up just fine I am very happy. For the price I paid this rod performed well and exceeded my expectations. I recommend the GX2 rod to all fishermen / women.
This is the go-to rod for all kinds of fishing. And you can't beat it for the price. This is by far the best value model rod I've ever purchased, and it has remained my favorite. There are cheaper rods out there, but this one will last you decades without having to baby it. The tip is super fast and sensitive, but the rod is extremely durable. You can set a hook like a man and reel in toads on the ultralight, as well as delicately hook trout. The longer and heavier weight rods still ... have the sensitive tip to pick up on small bass strikes.
I've used open face reels for the longest but wanted a good spincast like dad and I used back in the day. I paired this with the Pflueger Trion 10SCB, which is a $70 combo and well worth it. I miss these spin cast reels and use it quite often now. Ugly Stick is known to be strong and dependable, great rods and no since to spend a crazy amount of money when you can get these at such a good price.
I always have liked Ugly stik, and the GX2 no exception. Gave the 7' and the 6' a little overhand swing in the aisle, and the 6' is more easy to control with one hand, but I could definitely tell there was more power in the 7' with two hands. Went with the 6' because it felt better balanced, and love it. I'm going to end up getting a 7' too. I was especially happy with the guides; safe for braid, and don't corrode in salty water!
Used a 7' gx2 medium heavy to haul in 20 +pound snook . It was bent to a full C but didn't break . Just got the 6'6" heavy to get them in the boat faster .
A couple of my friends have swore by the Ugly Stik for years, so I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about. Compared to all the other brands of poles I've used in the past. The GX2 is by far the most sensitive I've used so far. It has the sensitivity to feel the little guy's bite in the streams and creeks where I fish, and strong enough to some of the bigger trout and bass I've caught with it so far. I bought this line for my ice fishing reels and it has performed very well. It is very flexible, strong and sensitive. No complaints here! As an angler that has used monofilament line for over 20 years, I am happy with the switch.
I have been using Berkley fishing line for over 25 years. Line is dependable and has all the qualities I need as a guide.
I use 12lb in this on my bass setups, and 25 to 30lb. Of this my catfish setups all in solar collector (bright green) color. This line handles everything I hook into as well as helps me locate my line quickly when I am getting a bite. Love it!
This is the only night fishing line I use on my baitcast reels. 12 lb test is so hard to break off I have to use my trolling motor and a leather glove. Does not nick easily and will bring good smallmouth out of deep timbered bluffs on the White River Chain. Stretch the line using line oil after you put it on your reel and occasionally(every 3rd or 4th trip and it will last...Big Time.
5" and 6" Powerbait Swim Shads are one of my go-to baits for catching big landlocked stripers. Hooks are sharp and baits are durable. The eyes are not always glued on good and you will lose them sometimes. I really hate to see the 5" and 6" models discontinued. C'mon Berkley, bring them back!
I tried this lure last year and now I never have less than three packs on hand. It is a multi-species fisherman's dream. I have caught bass, bluegill, crappie, and Rainbow Trout on this lure. Give it a try today. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Excellent rod and reel combo for the money. Its one of the rods i always have in my SUV (along with my short dock fishing rod) because I can catch all the fish i fish for with this combo, Trout, Crappie, Bass and Catfish and I don't have to worry about it getting banged around. Its sensitive enough for small pan fish and strong enough for Bass and catfish. I've used live bait and artificial and always with braided line and florocarbon leaders that i change depending on what Im fishing for. I ... have an expensive 7ft 4 inch KVD Tour Spinning Rod and T40 Carbon Reel and the Mitchell is heavier but not by much so its very light and comfortable when casting all day. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
I have this combe for about a year now and I use it most of the time when I fish and it's very durable. I fish remote locations and my equipment takes a beating at times and this combo takes it and still works flawless. The reel is very smooth, easy to use and never tangles. This rod performs very well and is built with top craftsmanship. It is light but strong and sensitive.
I have almost all weights, sizes and colors available. My favorite jighead for saltwater soft plastics, the hook is much stronger than regular light wire hooks. also works well for an Alabama rig in freshwater.
Great jig heads. He 3 retaining rings holds soft plastics onto the head very well
I like this best so far. I think the lack of line memory and ease of handling makes it better than Sunline Sniper. I liked Seagar Invisix, but this handles better and has better knot strength and less stretch. I know it is expensive, but it has held up pretty well for me this year. If you are new to fluorocarbon, do yourself a favor and always use line conditioner.
I got one with 6:1 retrieve in May and was so impressed I bought another in June with a lightning fast 8:1 retrieve ratio. I have 12 bait casting reels and after nearly 60 years of casting these are my favorites. The Super Duty handles everything from rubber worms to crank baits to buzz baits with ease. The drag is remarkable, trophy pike are no match for this little reel. Ten pound to 50 pound braided line all cast with ease and the reel is small in the hand and a joy to use. On top of all this ... the price is right. I sincerely believe this reel out performs others at twice the price.
I've been using this jig in these hot days in deep water on drops and points and the bass can't handle it. Amazing Jig
The rod and reel are great, I have already caught 3 bass with it. I could of caught more if the line was stronger, had a couple of the fish snap the line. Everything is great, but I recommend buying stronger line.
I bought this combo and reeled in about a 10lb bass, with a pair of pliers the kit would be solid.
I needed extra equipment on a budget and chose this rod. I currently use four of these along side a $100 rod and frankly can not tell the difference in performance. I tournament bass fish several times a month and would highly recommend this rod to my friends.
HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO USE IT BUT A COUPLE OF TIMES. BUT FOR THE MONEY?? EXCELLENT POLE.....
This is a great line. Will tell others about it !!!
Good hooks, sharp and keeps frogs up right bring through weeds..
I bought a few a these and when things were slow tried out the unpainted 1/4 ounce with Smelt Gulp! minnow and then outfished my bud 3 to 1 and all fish were bigger then all of his. Just let it fall and short straight twitches toward the boat and wham wally comes to visit. Brought his family also. Love these jigs
This high quality darter head is catching everything whenever I throw it with a soft bait in the water.
This line is essential if you want to fish in cover or for trolling. I would not use anything other than this line when I am trolling because you never know what you are going to catch when you are trolling so you want to make sure that you are prepared.
It a was a great deal. I would like to see it again but with a bigger spool, more than 110yds.
