I've been using 14 pound test FireLine on all my inshore spinning reels for over 10 years (first the original smoke color and since its introduction, FireLine Crystal). I use it for bucktailing fluke, bouncing soft plastics for striped bass and weakfish, jigging up porgies, sea bass, and bluefish, and skipping metals across the surface for false albacore...it has always performed flawlessly! I get asked all the time, "With the thin diameter of braid, why don't you use 20 or 30 pound test?" I ... tell them that I have never, EVER, broke a fish off due to line failure! That includes incidental catches of 40+ pound cownose rays and gorilla 15+ pound bluefish. My grandpa once landed a double header keeper striped bass 28 inches and 8 pound bluefish on 14 pound test FireLine and then landed a 13 pound fluke on the next cast with the same outfit. FireLine is a proven performer in my eyes!
I have been using fire line since 2001 in my opinion it's the best line out there and the only fishing string I use.it has never let me down
This works awesome on my Tundra 125 with the tie down straps. I have one on each side. If you wrap the straps around the lower part of the rod holder and tie them off, it becomes rigid enough to hold a net, or rigged rod while you setup or land fish. You could probably even troll from it. Great design.
I bought this in an attempt to have my fishing net held close to the fishing effort. At first I didn't know if it would work, but after using it and figuring out the placement on the boat it was excellent. I didn't want to screw something like a rod holder into the boat hull so this worked out well!
I bought a 4000 size reel for fishing off the beach. Love it! Very durable and strong. Caught lady fish and small blacktip sharks. Handled very well!
I bought 5 of these rods in the largest reel model and rod height. I was concerned about the castability of these as they are not directly listed as a surf rod under the desc, but upon a weeklong test they out preformed several of my 12 and 15 footers. As for the reels they have one of the smoothest drags i've seen in a while. I wound them all slap full of 65lb spiderwire braid and haven't got a windknot yet. Great retrieve and comfortable grip. 11/10 Would buy again. [This review was collected ... as part of a promotion.]
I bought this 2 years ago, loaded it up with 15lb braided line and casts a mile with light lures. I have 40 fishing rods (7) are Mitchell's this one is great. I will say previously the rods aren't the quality the reels are but this 7 ft rod works really nice. Great combo I'd buy more but my wife tells me I'm on a rod and reel suspension. Lol
I bought this reel and rod combo about a month ago and it has replaced my favorite up to this point reel. It is noticeable the difference between my old spinning. The reel has incredible smooth and & quiet motion. The 8 ball bearings provide great casting and retraction. It was an impulse buy and I read reviews afterward which made me second guess but knock on wood this is my favorite reel & rod combo. Made me a Mitchell believer and customer. Light weight and strong. Very sensitive. I've had this rod for 3 years and still love it. It has literally caught me a ton of fish.
I got the chance to use this rod recently and I gotta say it's gonna be a new favorite! The rod tip loads up really nicely so it can cast very well and it's also very sensitive. Would definitely recommend you pick up one of these babies!
I purchased This last spring in 2015 and fished it all summer and into the winter. The reel is smooth and reliable not heavy and easy to cast. The retrieve is smooth and fast this reel is all about reliability and functions very well even under heavy use. The pole is rigid enough to cast far yet light enough to finess even the smallest lures. I highly recommend this as a go to pole. The best part it's quality without breaking the bank. Wife bought this for me as a gift - smooth spinning, no nests yet. Rod handles good with Panfish. Very good value for the money. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Simply said, the best bait I have EVER fished. Ridiculously durable, catches literally everything, both Salt and Fresh. Off the top of my head i can think of 25 species i have reeled in on this bait, and i know there are more. 1/8 ounce red jighead and one of these in Houdini and its game over. Try them, find a color you like and you dont have to worry about what bait to buy anymore, you will just grab these without hesitation.
Once again, Academy makes it easy. Buy a great product online, at a great price, and ship to the house in a timely manner. So easy, even a "guy" can do it! Thanks for the great service. These Z-Man Paddler's "rock" when fishing in salt and fresh water targeting redfish, trout, or bass.
Worth the money! Sunline FC Sniper is far the best line out there. I've used this in 6lbs all the way to 20lbs line for fishing tournaments and they never fail me. Remember to always check your line for nicks and re-tie! Fish on!
I've fish a lot of f/c but I've never found a better line than sniper easy to work with and manage.can't say enough good things about this line little expensive but worth ever penny you won't be disappointed.
I have used several different brands of finesse worms and I always come back to these. They are durable and have great action. They catch fish, that's what matters to me. I just wished academy carried a few more colors.
