A friend of mine let me use one of these reels and it didn't take me long to figure out that I was in need of an update to my gear. I purchased a couple of these reels and was in business the only problem was once you use these reels your not going to use your old favorites.these reels are so light and smooth it isn't a workout to tourney fish anymore. These reels allow you to stay in touch with your baits witch in turn puts more fish in the boat. All I can say is less fatigue more fish in the ... boat. Thanks for keeping me in the game.
This is the second STX I've added to my arsenal. Another high quality product from Abu and plan to add more of this model.
I have had a few promax baitcasters for a couple years and have been very happy with them. I came across the chance to buy one of these for a great deal so I jumped at the chance. The alloy frame and smooth bearings give this revo a great, quality feel. It casts great and is very smooth and strong. The 20lb drag is a bonus. A lot of more expensive reels don't have a drag that strong. I've owned it for a couple weeks and have fished with it 6 times. So far I really like it a lot.
These reels are smooth casting and easily adjusted. The new cast controls on the Gen 3 reels makes these the easiest reels to fine tune without magnetic cast controls.
The only praise I need to write is this... I have a 2500 from the first year the BATTLE was introduced. I have done absolutely nothing to it and it still fishes like a dream. And I'm not a recreational fisherman. I fish 200 days a year professionally for smallmouth in a fast moving river from a canoe. My gear takes serious punishment. I NEVER worry about function from the Battles on my boat..
I bought the Battle II 6000 just over a year ago. Took it out for a big test offshore out of Venice Louisiana. The performance was impeccable. Light smooth and perfectly balanced. I was at first concerned it wouldn't not handle some of the large species we are known to catch off the Louisiana coast but was very pleased and impressed with the smooth performance and the drag power. Put it on a Penn Battle II 7' fast action rod and pulled in large snapper, amberjack, king and even a 125# shark with ... no problem. After that trip I went out and bought the battle II 3000 for inshore trout and redfish and black drum. The 3000 performed great on 2 30+ lb black drum. Been fishing 40 years now and these are by far my favorites. I'm a Penn man for life! Hitting Venice with them again this July for big Tuna. Can't wait to put it to the test!
I Bought this reel to serve as a bait reel for both fresh and saltwater fishing. I like how it has sealed bearings so I don't have to worry about that when wading in the ocean. Obviously I try my best to not get the reel wet but hey "Stuff" happens. With all that said its a nice reel however it is on the heavier side weighing in at 12.8 oz.
while you can spend more for a nearshore reel, why would you. Great drag and smooth cranking [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
bought this reel almost a year ago and hasn't let me down. Made easy work of the monster snapper and trophy king fish we caught on this thing! Drag is easy to adjust on the fly and rubber handle feels great when cranking in those beasts!
Drag works extremely well....! I have been using these style reels for over 20 years, this is the best I have used to date. We use them shallow and deep for offshore fishing. I tried other reels without success, these are a home run!
I haven't been able to use the reel yet, but have put 40lb. SpiderWire Stealth Braid on it.
I live in Clarksville Virginia, the home of the 144 pound world record blue cat. Over the last few years I have had other types of reels. They have even broken at the gears near the spool. I regularly catch 30 to 50 pound blue cats on a regular basis. I had a couple of old Abu Garcia reels that I have used for years in salt water. Even though they are old I have depended on them and no problems. About a month ago I bought 2 C3 7000 catfish specials. Their performance is outstanding. I usually ... drift fish with 6 rods at a time. I plan to get 2 more catfish specials in the near future, that way I will have only Abu Garcia reels on my boat. Thanks for a great product!
I was deciding which reel to buy for my upcoming crappie dock shooting trip and was very undecided as to which size and brand of reel to purchase. I visited a popular fishing forum specializing in crappies and the recommendations were varied according to each fishermen's needs and usage. I finally looked at the Quantum Optix line and read all of the specs on the various reels since this met my needs as a beginner dock shooter. I finally ended up purchasing 3 of the Quantum Optix 20 reels ... because of the size of the spool and bail. The reel performed above my expectations and everything about the reel was as smooth as could be. I never had a backlash or trouble with the line getting tangled during the whole day's of dock shooting for crappie. The Optix 20 drag was as good as any expensive reel and the anti-reverse was superb without any problems. For the price of these reels you cannot go wrong.
Very reliable and small quantum reel is one of my favorite spinning reels. The you get a good fight with the fish with this reel.
Just bought this reel and used it over the weekend and loved it! Plan on buying another one. Very good price too!
I just bought this reel and it is amazing. Preforms perfect and it gets the job done!
I have been fishing the Gulf coast for over 20 years and this is by far the best reel I have ever used. It casts great, has an awesome drag system, and as smooth as butter on warm toast. The quality of this reel is way above the other highend saltwater baitcasters.
I bought my first Concept A over a year ago........LOVE IT......just added another one a month ago! If you're fishing salt or fresh water this reels performance will impress you!
This reel is awesome, cast great, and very well made .
Smooth reel, same great Lew's quality. love it, recommend it!
I have two of these reels. They are my go to reels when spinning rods are needed. I own Mitchell's (new and old), Diawa and Bass Pro Shops Extreme and the Pfluegers out performs them all. They work great for all finesse fishing and with swim baits. Love the large spools that allow the line to flow off during long cast. Try one and you too will be impressed.
I bought this reel at Academy two months ago. I have used it much and I have to say that this reel outperforms reels in a much higher cost category, including Garcias, Penns, and Quatums. This is my go-to spinning reel of choice. It's action is very smooth, consistently. I highly reccomend it!
Purchased several weeks ago and glad I did. I have purchased an arsenal of bait casters (28) since I returned to fishing in the past five years, all in the mid range price catagory and this one tops them all. Easiest to set up and the absolute best caster of all. I have not had one over-run, even casting into the wind. It is very smooth and quite. This is the first bait casting reel I have that I was able to cast 1/8 oz lures a great distance, unbelievable. This is a great reel, you need to ... purchase this one and experience the difference. OBTW, this is my 8th Lew's and they are all good.
I love this reel plan on getting some more of them.
Casts light lures very well which is a quality that's hard to find. Superb ergonomics and cast quality. Magnetic brakes are nice and strong and have a very linear adjustable range from weakest to strongest. May be the best sub $100 BC reel out there.
I needed another reel and the specs on this one look good, great reel to use.
This reel has done wonders for me I bought it and have hauled some huge fish with it it's a work horse I highly recommend it!
I've been bass fishing my entire life and this reel outshines all the Shimanos, AbuGarcias, etc. that I own. Lew's outcasts the others and is the smoothest I've ever had. Yes, I had the opportunity to catch an 11 lb. 2 oz. on it and the drag worked flawlessly. If you want a great reel for a reasonable price, I strongly suggest this reel. I also love the contoured non-slip handle it comes with. I'll be buying another one soon.
This is an excellent reel. It was at my door step in less than 24 hours. The reel by far is my favorite.
I got one with 6:1 retrieve in May and was so impressed I bought another in June with a lightning fast 8:1 retrieve ratio. I have 12 bait casting reels and after nearly 60 years of casting these are my favorites. The Super Duty handles everything from rubber worms to crank baits to buzz baits with ease. The drag is remarkable, trophy pike are no match for this little reel. Ten pound to 50 pound braided line all cast with ease and the reel is small in the hand and a joy to use. On top of all this ... the price is right. I sincerely believe this reel out performs others at twice the price.
Love the feel of this reel . I'm ready to catch some panfish with my new reel.
The Zebco 33 Max is "The Answer" to large line fishing with a closed face reel. 20 pound test line is PERFECT for large bass and catfish. Great power is also achieved with this larger reel.
