I am a professional guide. I fish about 250 trips a year 2/3 are using the spinfisher reel. drags are excellent holds plenty of line and capable of catching anything that swims. I'm using Berkeley pro spec line excellent combination.
Have the 3500 model on my inshore combo and it is perfect for any inshore fish, has 20lbs of drag which is plenty for inshore. Thing is a beast
I now own 4 of this reels and love all of them. Super easy to adjust and fine tune. This thing take a beating too, i have one on my frog rod and I've put it through a beating and back. Still as smooth as when i got it.
These make 6 STX I own. Great reels and the sales price made this a easy purchase. Thanks
I have been useing c3 c4 and record reels for over 30 years. They are great durable and depedable reels . Very well built and the best part for me is the line guide moving when you cast, you get better and longer casts and better line lay. They work great with either mono or braid. And the 4601 is a great crank bait reel the perfect gear ratio for crankbaits and slow rolling spinnerbaits. I use them for bass, pike, catfish , muskie and have never had a problem with them. I tried a revo sx and ... didn't like it at all its going on craigs list can cast just as far with my c3 4601 or my c4 4601 and 5601.
I got my first 5500C in 1977 for my 15th birthday, and it still works perfect. With my recent purchase, I now own 11 of these reels.(I take care of my reels and they take care of me.) Best round reel money can buy !!!
These reels are smooth casting and easily adjusted. The new cast controls on the Gen 3 reels makes these the easiest reels to fine tune without magnetic cast controls.
This reel is nothing short of great. Casting is smooth and and it casts a mile. When in need I would buy another one.
I use Penn Conflict and Penn Battle II Spinning reels for all my inshore tournament fishing. When it comes to the Penn Battle II reel, you will not purchase a better reel for the price point this reel is offered. Simply a reliable work horse reel.
I own 2 of the original battle reels so when the upgraded battle II came out what did I do? Yes! I bought 3 of them. Do I own other reels by other manufacturers? Absolutely, however I have been a Penn man my whole life. If you look at my extensive tackle collection you will see that over 50% of it is Penn products. Penn products are made to last. This is my 2nd Orra Winch. I liked the 1st one so much for crankbaits, I picked up this one for my small/medium swimbait rod. Plenty of torque, great line capacity, smooth drag. Highly recommended!!
Awesome reel! I use it for just about everything (big cranks, deep cranks, squarebills, swimjigs, swimbaits, big swimbaits, chatterbaits, etc.) This is the second one I bought
I can't say enough good things about this reel. I've owned nothing but Penns and figured I'd give Shimano a try. This reel is so smooth it not only impressed me, it impressed the fish. Excellent drag, casting is wonderful and if your into throwing lures this thing will not tired you out. I was sceptical when buying it but landing 40" plus reds and 35" plus snook on this reel makes a world of difference vs penn. I'll be buying another smaller version, currently have the 8000 and all my Penns can ... collect dust. Making the switch to Shimano. Plus the $120 some odd dollars I spent thought it would feel cheap. Not at all. I can't even say a bad thing about it.
I own 2 black max and they do not have this switch but you cannot beat the black or these reels for there price, but i must say i like this reel more because of this switch .one more for the max.fished this brand my whole life, even my dad and he was born in 1914
Have owned this reel for a little over a year and it has met every challenge I have been able to throw it. Great features usually found only at 3x this price point.
I have been fishing for over 50 years and I own a lot of expensive reels . The Shimano C14+ is one of the best and smoothest reels I have ever used . I have the 2500 series and I use it for crappie on light weight rods and crank baits on med to heavy rods for bass fishing . I love it . Buy one you wont be disappointed !!
I have 2 of these reels and will order another one this week. It dont get any better unless of course you want to spend a LOT more money. I have a Stella that was a gift. Its a great real but it certainly not worth 5 times the money, which is what it costs. I use these reels in saltwater approx 3 times a week. sometimes I remember to wash them out after use and sometimes its 3 or 4 in the morning when I get home and they dont get washed out , but they both keep on working flawlessly.
Smooth reel, same great Lew's quality. love it, recommend it!
I used it four days at the beach and am very satisfied with reel.
This Lew's reel is built to throw big baits! I throw swimbaits with this reel. Excellent reel when combo with the right right.
I've been bass fishing my entire life and this reel outshines all the Shimanos, AbuGarcias, etc. that I own. Lew's outcasts the others and is the smoothest I've ever had. Yes, I had the opportunity to catch an 11 lb. 2 oz. on it and the drag worked flawlessly. If you want a great reel for a reasonable price, I strongly suggest this reel. I also love the contoured non-slip handle it comes with. I'll be buying another one soon.
I bought this a month ago and I am in love with this reel
I own several of these reels. Very smooth action and very dependable. They are better than other much more expensive reels that I have owned.
I received one of these reels as a gift, and immediately went out and bought another one of the best reels I've ever owned, it out cast and out performs many of my higher end reels.
I bought this reel two months ago very smooth reel great drag well worth the money reel with the same features sell for $200- $300
Smooth, Strong, and good looking. For only $99 this was a great buy.
The finish to this reel is very nice. I am yet to use the reel, but have it strung for saltwater popping cork. I am excited to use it in a few weeks. The reel holds plenty of 30# braid. Worth the price and for a great cause.
I've owned Lew's reels in the past....this one lives up to the Lew's quality I've come to know....
My Father bought a Nordhavn 50' back in 2000. He isn't really a fisherman but I knew that we would be travelling over some perfect fishing grounds in the years to come and the trawler's standard cruising speed is around 8 knots (perfect for some trolling). Knowing that whatever Rods and Reels I bought for the boat would likely be neglected in the years between the passages on which I could join him, I opted for a pair of Penn Special Senator 6/0's. I recently made a 9 day trip on the boat after ... a 4 year hiatus and found these reels had been propped in a corner of the cockpit, in full sun, all that time. The poles they were attached to were shot out completely but I was shocked to find that, after a little TLC, the Senators were both working flawlessly. I stopped by a local tackle shop in port on the morning of the second day, had the reels re-spooled with fresh 50 lb mono, picked up a new pair of Penn Mariner rods, and a dozen frozen Ballyhoo. By the time we left port at 8:30 AM on the second day, were were back in business! I certainly would not recommend treating your gear with such careless disregard, but It's nice to know these reels can survive almost anything!!!
I have been using the Penn Special Senator reels on my boat for years and they just can't be beat. I use them for bottom fishing in the Gulf of Maine, and jigging for Bluefish in Long Island Sound. Never a problem with them....not even one! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I own a couple dozen of these reels for both leadcore set-ups as well as for monofilament trolling set-ups. The drag system, the levelwind, and the overall reel performance is second to none.
Bought two last year for test run and they proformed flawlessly. From pulling cranks for walleyes to holding ten colors of lead for king salmon it counted and cranked them in. So I got 7 more for this summers trips
