I am a professional guide. I fish about 250 trips a year 2/3 are using the spinfisher reel. drags are excellent holds plenty of line and capable of catching anything that swims. I'm using Berkeley pro spec line excellent combination.
Have only used once since I just recently got it, but all the reviews were spot on
I have been useing c3 c4 and record reels for over 30 years. They are great durable and depedable reels . Very well built and the best part for me is the line guide moving when you cast, you get better and longer casts and better line lay. They work great with either mono or braid. And the 4601 is a great crank bait reel the perfect gear ratio for crankbaits and slow rolling spinnerbaits. I use them for bass, pike, catfish , muskie and have never had a problem with them. I tried a revo sx and ... didn't like it at all its going on craigs list can cast just as far with my c3 4601 or my c4 4601 and 5601.
i have 2 of these reel models for many many years. i have no problems with them at all. i use them at least 4-5 time a week with out failure. i have tried a lot of different brands and most have failed in one way or another. these are the best i have found and they have a very reasonable price to go with them. these are very high quality reels. i am hooked on these reels for sure. i have caught hundreds upon hundreds of fish on these reels and look forward to the next hundreds upon hundreds to ... be caught. thanks for a quality reel.
I Love the Abu round reels. When I say I love them, you have to understand the context of that statement, you see, Im 50 yrs. old, and my first Abu, a 5000, was given to me by my grandpa when I was home from the Army on leave....in 1987. Since then, Ive collected over 2 dozen of them, from the smaller bass fishing size of a 4500 to the big game sized 10000. I have caught nearly every fish there is on the Gulf Coast with a Abu Garcia. Whether it was speckeled trout, flounder, redfish, snook, ... pompano, kingfish, cobia, a dozen types of snapper....the Abu round reels just kill em' !! And the reels are tough, last forever, and are dead simple to care for. Abus Service is also the tops!! Ive ordered parts for reels that were 20 years old....never a problem, just fantastic service. I believe what I like most about the reels, is that they are made with real craftsmanship. The beauty of Abu round reels is their simplicity, their strength comes from uncomplicated designs, and materials that stand the test of time. Because the reels are so well built, so easy to maintain, made of quality materials, Im looking forward to being able to hand these down to my son and daughter. Thats why I say......ABU GARCIA......For Life!!
I purchased my first reel about 25 years ago and it works as well today as my newer ones. I use my reels for multi species in freshwater and have even used them in saltwater. Stripers, Largemouth, Redfish, and Catfish. Fish up to and including 70# cats! Tuff durable long lasting reels. Keep them clean and lubed and they will last a lifetime. What a GREAT bargain!
I have purchased and used baitcasting reels from about every manufacturer out there since 1976. Every time a manufacturer would come out with the "best, smoothest reeling or furthest casting" reel, I would have to get one. But once I really used the reels in tournament conditions day in a day out, I found out that there were big differences in quality and craftsmanship. I have yet to find a reel manufacturer that can even come close to the feel and finish of a Swedish made Abu Garcia ... Ambassaduer. I have sold all of my other low profile reels and have acquired eight 4600 C3 and CL3 reels. In my opinion, they are the best ever built, easy to service and the ones most sought after by serious fisherman and collectors. They will be around and in use long after the others are history!!
I have used these reel for years for saltwater inshore fishing and highly recommend them. I would like to see more info on the care and maintenance. I also would like to see an easy accessible oil and grease port on the reel.
I have had a few promax baitcasters for a couple years and have been very happy with them. I came across the chance to buy one of these for a great deal so I jumped at the chance. The alloy frame and smooth bearings give this revo a great, quality feel. It casts great and is very smooth and strong. The 20lb drag is a bonus. A lot of more expensive reels don't have a drag that strong. I've owned it for a couple weeks and have fished with it 6 times. So far I really like it a lot.
I purchased the Revo S, and while I like it, it doesn't seem as durable as my Revo Winch. It's a good reel, but it isn't made as good. The sides seem cheap.
They are all I wil use. I have caught many fish on the surf in all kinds of crazy weather. Not one problem.
I currently own 4 of these reels, including an older Battle that is about 4 years old now and they have never let me down. Minimal maintenance is all that is required and these reels have tackled everything from sheepshead to mahi to large sharks. I own lots of other more expensive reels and these are the best spinning reel for the money on the market. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Had it for 2 years teamed up with a vengeance rod. Can't even begin to say how many fish I have caught with it! Good price good quality! Can't get much better than that
Does a great job for casting all but the lightest lures or baits. Mag control works great for casting into the wind or when changing the weight of the lure. Because the pro, silver and black max models feature mag control only and not centrifugal/mag controls, they are not nearly as costly as the revo, rocket, beast and mgx models, but deliver great performance and value for all but the dedicated flipping and pitching techniques. Durable, easily adjusted, light weight and smooth drag are some of ... this reels fine qualities. Try one and I think you will like.
This reel is awesome, cast great, and very well made .
Penn really put their all in this machine. I purchased the LD 60 and it has over met my expectations. I went to Pensacola Florida on a family fishing trip in the Gulf and on day two hooked into a 47 ld Gag grouper. The reel didn't hesitate one bit. The lever action is so smooth that I was able to overpower the fish after only 15 min. Great reel if your in the market for lever drag ....... A+++ Penn.
Just bought this reel and used it over the weekend and loved it! Plan on buying another one. Very good price too!
I just bought this reel and it is amazing. Preforms perfect and it gets the job done!
I bought this during the Black Friday deals and combined it with a blackout rod. I have not had a single issue with this reel. drag and the brake setting are great. hardly any backlashes with this reel. *you will always have backlashes with a baitcaster no matter how good you are. Great price as well.
I have used this reel on multiple occasions since receiving it three weeks ago. As suspected, it performs flawlessly. It is one of the few reels on the market that has 3 cast control systems; magnetic, centrifical and spool friction. Once dialed in it casts beautifully. I save a lot of time not dealing with bird nests which turns into more time with my lure in the water and catching fish. Stuck thirty (30) bass from 1 to 4.5 pounds two days ago at a private lake and the reel worked great. ... Lew's changed the color to a lighter shade of white which I think was a very good move. Like others, I wish Lew's would include a small vile of reel oil with their product as a goodwill gesture but, controlling costs is also important. Get one or two, I have.
For the price, the Lew's reel is a great panfish reel!!
I went into Academy today to purchase a Lews Speed Spool LFS. The local Academy didn't have it in a left hand retrieve but did have a Lews Laser MG in a lefty version, so I thought that I would try it (and save 20 bucks). What a sweet little reel. I haven't fished it yet but I mounted it to a Tournament Choice Classic Edition 6' rod (another Academy product) and set up the reel after spooling it with 12 pound. I can sit at my computer and flip it into the shower (about 12' away) and get a feel ... for the action and it is sweet. I am right handed but like left hand retrieve. It doesn't make sense to me to cast and change to my left to retrieve with my right.
this is an amazing reel lews has really stepped up there game.
My Father bought a Nordhavn 50' back in 2000. He isn't really a fisherman but I knew that we would be travelling over some perfect fishing grounds in the years to come and the trawler's standard cruising speed is around 8 knots (perfect for some trolling). Knowing that whatever Rods and Reels I bought for the boat would likely be neglected in the years between the passages on which I could join him, I opted for a pair of Penn Special Senator 6/0's. I recently made a 9 day trip on the boat after ... a 4 year hiatus and found these reels had been propped in a corner of the cockpit, in full sun, all that time. The poles they were attached to were shot out completely but I was shocked to find that, after a little TLC, the Senators were both working flawlessly. I stopped by a local tackle shop in port on the morning of the second day, had the reels re-spooled with fresh 50 lb mono, picked up a new pair of Penn Mariner rods, and a dozen frozen Ballyhoo. By the time we left port at 8:30 AM on the second day, were were back in business! I certainly would not recommend treating your gear with such careless disregard, but It's nice to know these reels can survive almost anything!!!
I have been using the Penn Special Senator reels on my boat for years and they just can't be beat. I use them for bottom fishing in the Gulf of Maine, and jigging for Bluefish in Long Island Sound. Never a problem with them....not even one! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this reel because i was looking for something to pitch my 1/4 oz jigs. This reel is amazing. Super smooth casting. The handle is a little big, but it makes cranking easier. I think this definitely lives up to the Zebco name.
Smooth, Strong, and good looking. For only $99 this was a great buy.
I bought this reel two months ago very smooth reel great drag well worth the money reel with the same features sell for $200- $300
Can't find a nicer tiny reel for $30. Nicer then the regular tiny 20.
I have 3 of these small open-face spinning reels and they perform exceptionally well for the purpose of catching crappie for me. Their performance is outstanding and trouble free. As good as reels that I have that cost 3 or 4 time as much. I highly recommend these for light tackle fishing. Good Luck.
Picked one up little over a year ago now have 11. Traded all my old reels in. Better than most reels priced twice as much. Smooth, light and tough as nails plus a 3 year warranty it doesn't get any better.
When I first got the reel it was nice and smooth, but I could never throw far with it. Doesn't matter how heavy the lure that I'm throwing. It was instant backlash if you tried to cast it far. So now I only use the reel to pitch jigs closely, stick with a lews...
