The INTEX Explorer K2 kayak is very easy to setup and very light weight. It has everything you need to get out on the water and have some fun. I purchased two of these kayaks and my family of five was out together having fun on the lake. For the price this is a very good kayak sturdy and light weight and moves across the water very well. I would recommend this for going out on the lake or a nice calm river.
I have had mine for 6 months now and it has held up to over 200 miles on the intercoastal waters. After time and over inflation the front and rear have torn the Velcro has come off the seats but the tears are above the waterline and you can glue the Velcro back on. It has held up very well considering the amount of use it gets and for the money you can't go wrong buying this kayak.
I kayak in the New River. I have used different types and sizes of kayaks. I really like this kayak although it is not the perfect fit for me. I love the length for the river because it is best for tighter spaces. I'm 5'4" and 150 lbs. and it is very roomy for me but I wish I didn't sit so deep in the kayak because it makes it a little harder to paddle. It seems to travel well and I didn't flip over which is always a plus.
I bought this kayak on sale for $299 to go along with my 12ft Perception Pescador. The good: 2 rod holders and an anchor, tracks fairly good, great value for it's $300-$400 price range and a large cockpit area. The bad- no storage hatches, seat is a little uncomfortable, not as stable as my pescador (but $250 cheaper than my other yak). All in all, it is a great deal for the price.A lot better than the other $300-$400 kayaks.
I bought these kayaks for a lake trip with my dad and it was fantastic. You don't cut through the water like a regular kayak, you more float on top but you still move very easily and feel very stable inside. Also its squishy enough to lounge on which hard kayaks can't really do. Things to be aware of: the paddle is 84 inches which is a good bonus but you may want to upgrade to a longer paddle if you don't want water in your kayak (just splashes).
So glad I chose to purchase this Intex Chalenger K1 9' Inflatable Kayak! It had been a long season since I was able to enjoy a hike in the woods from the shoreline :) The set up was fast and easy. The stability is great with the keel it tracks well. To be able to deflate and keep in my car for anytime use is amazing!! I just cannot say enough! All one needs with this Kayak is a place to go and enjoy!
Great Deal. Bought 2 of these last summer when on sale for $400. Wife and I use them on a flat water lake/river in NC. Good tracking hull, but very heavy at 60lbs. Scupper holes allow for draining. But my wife says her seat bottom gets wet. (I put scupper plugs under the seats, which keep me dry but not her.) I like the adjustable seat back. Added a rod holder in front console and an anchor trolley on the right.
Excellent Kayaks! We bought (2) Perception Pescador 12' Kayaks, and love them both. They cut through the water so easily, so easy to manage and maneuver in the water and are so easy to load and unload off our vehicle. The seating is great and they have plenty of storage for gear! The height and weight are by far the best.
I've had this kayak for a while now and couldn't be happier. Not having the money to spend on a "nicer" kayak, I read countless reviews and decided to go with the Pelican Icon. No it's not as stable as the big yaks but is still very stable. Had no problems worring about tipping. After about 5 to 10 mins in it the first time out I had found myself not thinking about my balance and that says a lot considering I have a fear of water. Yes I fish and have a fear of water. A crate fits easily in the ... rear storage with room to spare. Tracking is pretty good as well. Its light as well so its reasonably easy to get it on and off the truck by myself. I would have to strongly recommend this for anyone looking to get into a kayak. It won't break the bank and is stable, which is the biggest problem with the lesser expensive kayaks.
This is a good, stable kayak, with fishing accessories. Recommended. One suggestion for Pelican: design a closed container to fit behind the seat, under the bungee cord, for water, food, gear, etc. - would be accessible while paddling. The front storage is nice, but is more for overnight camping gear. The kayak is fairly heavy, so it's better for two-person carry to water. Also - this is a wide kayak, so go one size longer on paddle than you would normally get, to avoid hands hitting sides.
Bought it a month ago. Its my first kayak so I can't compare it to others. Very easy to stand in, gets more stable the more I get used it. Light enough to load and unload to the top of my Jeep Wrangler by myself. Comfortable seat. Plenty of room for tall person (I'm 6'4). Very nice fishing platform. Wish I bought a longer paddle, 240cm seems a little too short with the seat in the higher position. Also about $150-$200 cheaper than the local stores.
I've had it since June and just took it out for the third time. It's an extremely stable kayak and the seat makes you want to fall asleep it's so comfy. I realized after my recent outing that the hull had about a half gallon of water in it and I'm not sure which part of the boat is leaking. If anyone has similar issues please share.
I was given one of these as a gift from my father and I loved using it on the water. It is light weight and tracks well in the water. It is very roomy and comfortable. It's also nice and wide so it is very stable in both lakes and rivers. I would choose this boat over a pelican boat of equal price any day because it's better made and more durable.
Very stable, roomy, comfortable, nimble, good tracking. We've had a lot of 10' yaks and the Featherlite and Swifty are the best designed/well made of the affordable entry level boats. We use in lakes and rivers (up to class 2) with the Featherlite 9.5 my favorite
I bought two of these for my son and husband for Christmas. They fish out of the various lakes, canals, bayous, and rivers in Southeast LA and love them! They maneuver easily and the rod holders and strap areas are ample enough the carry several poles and a small ice chest. They loved them so much that two of their friends and my father also went out and got the kayaks!
My cousin owns this kayak and I have had the pleasure of being able to fish with it a few times. It is stable, roomy, comfortable, and I really enjoyed using it!
It didn't hurt that academy took 100.00 off price and gave free delivery. Tracks well, easy to move, stays dry. I'm 6' 3" and have no issues getting in and out of Kayak. Plenty of leg room too. When looking for a cockpit cover or skirt, most manufacturers don't have a listing for the Perception Odessy. However Harmony lists the Swifty Model as Swifty (Odessy) which is 60/23 in their fit guide. Bought a Harmony cover size 60/23 and it fits perfectly.
Stable, good size TRACKS WELL! Light enough to to easily load on my Suburban myself. Good price.
Great kayak for fishing, but let me warn you, use an after market seat if you want to be on it all day. I was on it for 4 hours and my tailbone took a beating. It hurt for 2 hours after I got off. But just get some kind of cusion and you have yourself a durable, well priced kayak.
This is a great kayak! Handles well, tracks well, and is very stable! I like the fact that it is a self bailing vessel, and has molded footrests. Although, the footrests are somewhat slippery, so much so that my Chacos slip off of them. Barefoot or watershoes is the way to go. Other than that, this kayak is great! Comfortable seat, ample storage, and drain plug all make this a great kayak!
I just purchased this kayak and it is amazing it is so unbelievably stable and it tracks very well for its size and Shape not to mention it is by far the lightest boat I could find and its class which to me it's probably the biggest deal this boat is everything I imagined and hoped it to be I love the fact I can stand up so easy and cast my fishing pole
the kayak is everything that the advertisement say that it is. there was two seat holders missing but pelican quickly sent the missing pieces to repair. the kayak is lite but very stable in the water.
I bought the No Limits sit-in last year as my first kayak with the intention of up grading in a year or so. I am so pleased with this sit in kayak that I have no reason to buy another 10 foot kayak. This is a great kayak that has been put to the test on big lakes in windy conditions. I have yet to take on water or even get the least bit wet, except for a little paddle drip. It is compact, which to me, is a good thing. You need to stay organized in this kayak. It is light, fast and easy to ... paddle in head winds, as opposed to sit on tops. It cuts right through the waves and is stable. Only an idiot would try to stand up in a kayak, especially in a 10 foot. The nose has banged into rocks and the bottom dragged across stumps in extremely shallow backwater. I don't abuse it, I use it and it has served me well. It always brings me back home. This kayak, I would recommend to a family member or friend because it has been tested. I always stow enough equipment to stay over night or shelter an unexpected storm if need be. With the added weight it is still fast and stable. All of this for $349.
I bought 2 of these Kayaks last year, one for my wife and one for me. We love them. Easy to load for travel, easy to launch, great handling and stability, super to fish from. Thanks Academy.....BTW I am almost 69 years old (Never too old to try something new).
I have had 9 kayaks, the best by fare. Vary fast kayak. Can't stand up, would rather have speed over a barge!
The kayak seems excellent quality and the Customer Service from Academy was terrific as always.
I bought this kayak a few weeks ago.. took it to the lake a quickly found out that whoever put it together did a poor job.. the drive unit was way out of adjustment causing it to kick up while paddling.. the rudder cables where not installed properly and would not turn to the left.. later found that the cables were cut to short.. so now after resucuring all the bolts and loose screws I am having a hard time finding new cables.. haven't had any luck getting in touch with perception.. only show a ... phone number and haven't got a return call..I guess I am just expecting better assembly on a 1800$ kayak. Hopefully I will be updating this with some good news soon
I'm having trouble putting the peddles on is there a place I can take it so I won't strip anything
I purchased this Kayak almost two years ago. Have been out in it many times and love it. I had a sit in Kayak first then decided to go with the sit on style. I like being able to get to all my gear and I stay cooler with the sit on. Just be sure to wear sunscreen or buy lightweight pants to keep from burning. Can't beat it for the quality and low price.
I have owned this boat for two months and it is great. It handles well on the water. It is faster than I expected. Get a pad to sit on or your butt will hurt after a couple hours. It is light and easy to load. It is ready to fish as is with great storage. I really like this kayak.
I bought this boat for my granddaughter to use at our lake house. It is so easy to paddle. It is lightweight and easy to transport.
It was on sell when I got it and the next day I took it out on the lake I had know leaks just about a half cup or less in the kayak hole i was out there four a good 5 hours One the front lid it was sagging down put I just put a screw in it and it looks like it cam with it The fish rod holder in front seems to be far up the to get it I will be putting it on the side closer to me Its a nice long kayak for fishing From olathe ks
I bought one of these and it is the best kayak I've owned yet it's so easy to paddle i can move around in it so easly it's great for fishing I Would Recommend this kayak to any one this is an amazing kayak I took it out on the lake and had no problems with it it's good for ocean fishing thats what I like doing is kayak fishing in the ocean and I took it out on the ocean and it worked perfect.
This kayak is extremely light and moves so easily on the water that it is amazing. The lightest touch of the paddle will get this kayak moving, it has great speed and stability plus it is very comfortable. The drawback to this kayak is that it does not track well, every paddle stroke will cause the nose to wag, no big deal since it is so light that you can keep it going when you want it, however, as soon as you stop paddling it will turn around and not go straight. Minor annoyance and one that I ... overlook because of the lightweight, stability and speed. A very nice kayak for the money.
I bought this Kayak because I wanted to do some fishing and paddling on both lakes and rivers. The sit in design is excellent for that purpose. I took it on the water two hours after purchasing and it handled wind and very choppy water on the lake with ease. I paddled into a headwind and sustained surprising speed. Excellent control. The quick lock hatch was perfect for my wallet and keys to stay dry. I put two poles in the flush mount rod holders and they stayed in place very well even on the ... rough water. My tackle box fit nicely in the rear under the bungees. The seat was actually very comfortable once I adjusted it for my posture. My only complaint and reason for the 4 star is due to the carrying handles both breaking LITERALLY before leaving the store. The rope used is just very low quality and severed even though the openings weren't sharp. We even checked another of the same model and it's cords were also starting to fray. I had to buy new handles just to take it out side easily. Otherwise, excellent value on a very stable and fast kayak.
Avid kayakers can enjoy the features of sit-in kayaks, which may be equipped with an adjustable seat, molded-in cup holders, padded cushioning and roomy cockpits for extended time on the water. Sit-in kayak privide a little more protection from your environment while paddling, but can be more difficult to get in and out of. When browsing through kayaks for sale, you can find kayaks and canoesto help customize or store your kayak.
Immerse yourself in the fresh air with sit-on-top kayaks that let you sit on top of the kayak rather than in a cockpit. Paddle keepers, rod holders and swivel rod holders make sit-on-top designs ideal for fishing kayaks, and padded seats allow you to lean back comfortably as you cast out your line and wait for a big catch. Fishing kayaks offer durability and storage space for all your gear.
For quick excursions on the lake or for fun out at camp, inflatable kayaks offer a viable option. The lightweight design of inflatable kayaks makes them ideal for moving between locations or for tucking away on the go. Units with hand pumps make inflation and deflation simple. Even though they are lightweight, inflatable kayaks come equipped with helpful features, such as cargo nets for keeping accessories in place, deep cockpits for added stability, polyester deck covers to protect against UV rays and grab lines that let you pull the unit easily out of the water after your adventure.
