Bought this grill over a month ago. Instructions are not the greatest and most reviews discuss it being 6 hours on average for sssembly which is about right. I had mine freight delivered which it was not handled very well along the road. I had to bend back many parts myself to make it all fight. The grill itself operates fine but the griddle rusts badly if not used every few days. The paint or coating not sure what it is supposed be in the sides on the grill tops sides has peeled away ... after the first uses. Same with the smoker box. The grill is really attractive but quality is just not that great. I would've preferred paying more for a higher quality grill. Not unhappy with my purchase but I can tell it won't be a longterm item now so I would not buy this brand again.
Only had it 3 weeks, seems like pretty decent product. The cover is a "must have" and is very well made. My grill arrived in a beat up box due to shipping and took about 3 hrs. to assemble. A couple of flanges had some minor bends that were easily straightened and the weld on the charcoal lifter was broken so it wouldn't lift. I re-welded it myself and it works fine ( there's no way you could get it all back in the box to send it back) Take care of it and it should last a while. Keep the griddle ... and grates oiled with cooking oil so they don't rust. Another thing, you need to grab one when they get them in cause they go fast.
I've had this grill for half a year now. It's good. I don't know about 16 burgers at once though LOL, maybe my burgers are just big. Either way, I use it for meals and gets the job done. I have a propane - huge- event grill that I was using, but this is better for just the family. About lighting the coal, I have no idea what the person in the other review is doing wrong. There is a trick to opening the bottom, you have to kind of lift, then pull to open it. I though it was stuck the first ... time, then I figured it out. I've cooked steaks, burgers, roasted chile, etc... The little temperature gauge helps out too.
I bought this a couple about a week ago to take a break from my wood smoker, and I read a ton of reviews before deciding on this unit. It is great. It's small, definitely won't fit ten burgers or however many they claim, but that's nothing to complain about in my opinion. The picture shows it to be a smaller pit, and it also tells you the size of cooking space. I use about 1/5 of the amount of charcoal I'm used to, and the fire stays hot and burns longer than most pits. I used the smallest bag ... of charcoal I could find for the first light to burn off the factory smells and season it. It stayed about 450 for a few hours. Now as far as controlling temp.... that's going to be accomplished by the size of your fire. best $60 I've spent so far on cooking.
Owned now for four months. I grill almost everyday in the warmer months, so this grill has been put to the test. Cant beat for the price! I chosed this grill since it was american made. I smoke on it alot on the weekends using the snake method. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 overall Pros-American made, price, size-tall lid to fit chickens and pork butts(fits two) works amazing as a smoker, very light and easy to transport Cons- short, bottom charcoal plate needs replaced with grate and moved up ... closer to grill grate. charcoal chokes itself out badly And has trouble searing.
I have used webbers , char-boil and some few other grills gas and charcoal but hands down next to my pull behind that I made myself the old smokey is my next fav . was real surprise about how much cooking space the jumbo has. will def be getting another one to go on the pontoon boat
My third one over a period of many years. Light weight but holds heat well enough for burgers, steaks, chicken or sausage. I put a large pan in the bottom for the coals to set in to make it easier to dump out.
I have owned Old Smokeys my entire grilling and smoking life. I have also had some of the best and most expensive smokers as well. But honestly, the Old Smokeys i have had are the easiest to use, easiest to control and care for of any of the others - hands down! So now with several pits and smokers that have seen comparitively little use, I am going this week to buy a replacement for my Old Smokey!
First I have to say service at the Tuscaloosa academy on July 3rd was awesome. Went in looking for a grill, of course on the day before the 4th, selection wouldn't be very good. Found the grill I wanted on their display board but wasn't on the floor, an associated asked to help right away and found me one in the back, loaded it in my truck and asked to tie it down. I was in and out in 30 minutes. The grill is great. Perfect for what I needed. Seems to be good quality. Big enough to do a lot or ... put charcoal to one side an do a little. Grilled burgers and hot dogs for the 4th and just grilled some fillets and chicken. Had no complaints from the family, must have been pretty good. Thanks Academy for great service and products.
I just bought this last weekend, It was the last one they had and already put together which is awesome, got home and only had to screw in 4 screws and I was good to go. My wife and I cooked on it that night, thing is awesome! I love the way the food taste! So much better than a gas grill hands down! I also looked around everywhere to find one and this place had by far the best deal. The store is really cool for being in it for the first time. They also have good deals on fire pits and chairs. ... Store is great! They have everything you need there. Spent $400 there that day and got a ton of great stuff! We will go back for any other needs no doubt.
I found attaching the handle to the lid very difficult after that it was easy to assemble. I was surprised that it was not flimsy for the price it is worth the $20 dollars. Spray the interior with vegetable oil before your first use and it will prevent it from rusting. Happy with my purchase!
Purchased grill specifically for the beach and when I go fishing, however i've used it to do some backyard grilling and it's great. Easy to clean up after grilling and certainly can put out it's share of heat!!!
I had one before and wore it out. Perfect size for cooking for one. Awesome piece of equipment that any true bbq king needs to have.
excellent to go on my boat..stores easily..uses very little charcoal..weber quality...
I bought this about a year ago since then I've grilled like a champ! With this size you can smoke anything I've done whole packer briskets several pork butts, can't get enough ribs. Don't get the smaller models or original, this one you can master everything. Hinged grates for chunk wood, thermometer for watching heat. And save some back with thé ash catcher. Now get out there and cook some guuuuuud food.
I bought this for my son for Christmas and really likes it.
I am very pleased with my ole smokey bought a month ago
My husband just bought this grill for Camping (: We love it ! It fits perfect in our Camper and is plenty big for us !!!!
I received this grill two weeks ago, and I am pretty pleased so far. It is very well constructed, and has great weight to it. My only complaint is that the charcoal grate sits almost 10 inches away from the food grate; therefore the cooking surface does not get that warm. I simply had to purchase some bricks to bring the heating grate higher to create a much hotter cooking surface. Very simple fix, and I love everything else thus far.
I just got it yesterday. I have not cooked yet but eat feels great and quality is outstanding!
I LOVE Weber Grills! I've had this one for 8 years. This kettle grill is deep enough to light without lighter fluid or a charcoal chimney by simply putting newspaper under the charcoal grate and piling the charcoal into a pyramid above it. It keeps the coals far enough away from the food that you can cook to the center of meat without burning the outside. Truly the best grill in this price range!
I bought this weber-one touch silver charcoal grill over 2 months ago and it works great
I bought one last summer. It's very nice and sturdy. Mine was stolen so I will be getting a new one soon. I like the fact that you do not have to put it together just unfold and ready to go. I highly recommend this grill for those who like charcoal grills.
i have had this grill for several years. we use it all the time
I've always wanted a kamado grill but I could never bring myself to buying a big green egg. So I started shopping around and with all of the add ons you get with this, it is clearly the best value out there. It even includes the ceramic deflector plate which is $50 with other brands. The side shelves are unbelievably sturdy. Much better than big green egg and others. Looking forward to years of use!!!
This is my first kamado and I am very impressed with the cooking performance! Looking forward to showing it off on Memorial Day!!
