My home defense and EDC gun is an EAA SAR B6P polymer framed 9mm. The gun is not rated for +P loads and I wanted a dependable load I could count on to stop a threat with proper expansion and minimal over penetration. I chose the Federal 124 grain HST rounds because they seem the best all around choice for my purposes. No matter what the weather or what clothing my attacker might be wearing, I feel confident that these will reliably and consistently penetrate and expand as designed, ending the ... threat to me or my family.
A lot of people will tell you these were a good bullet in their time and there is better to offer but I look at it this way this design has been around for years and has proved to be very reliable by many L.E.A. I have used the hydro shok as my carry ammo for a long time and fired several rounds w/o any problems. I would recommend this to anyone who conceal carries or home defense. As with all ammunition I would test them in your firearm to make sure there are no feed issues.
I use this in my S&W Bodyguard 380, without any hickups. Shoots great, very accurate, and it also shoots very clean.
Pure perfection. No failures. As good as it gets. Very hard hitting and works every time which is unusual for 380 ammo.
I am glad I purchased this ammo. Excellent to train my daughters in target practice.
I purchased this ammo to use in my db380 that I have owned for almost a year. I have been reluctant to fire the 380 due to all of the negative I have heard about the pistol. The ammo and pistol worked perfect.
I know there are some out there that says this round is obsolete, over rated or that it doesn't even work as advertised. Well I am here to tell you that I have used this particular ammunition since the early 1990's as a law enforcement officer as well as my brother officers and it has ALWAYS preformed flawlessly in anything it's been used in and as directed. If we didn't believe in it.... Believe me when I say, we'd not trust our lives to it daily! In fact I recently used it to shoot a coyote ... out of my Hk USP and WOW! is all I can say.
I used this round for 18 month's in theater, and it puts down what you need and anything else that might be in the way
The item is hard to find, I saw it on Academy's add on line, and was very happy to get it!!
Purchased ammo at a good price and it was delivered quickly.
First off, what works in my handguns might not work in yours. I went to the range with a Glock 19 and a 43. I took various ammo with me, 6 different brands all the same 115 grain. I don't want to put down any ammo but out of the 6, this Aguila worked the best for me. I'm no expert but I made consistent 2 inch groups with this ammo where as some of the others I could not make a good 4 inch group. I used all top name ammo from Academy Sports ( Best Prices ). If you have a Glock, or any name ... handgun for that matter, give Aquila ( means Eagle ) a try.
bought these for the range, they are good quality ammunition,
Shoots good with reasonable recoil. Should be good hog ammo.
Shot a box at the range no misfires or loading issues. good ammo
I know I don't own a gun but my dad has a s&w .40 caliber and he uses defense ammunition so I thought I might as well buy this for him for Christmas because he is low on ammo.i really intruly think it great product because chambers really well.
Not only does this product look great, IT IS GREAT!!! I just recently bought this and decided to shoot some of them. Fantastic!!
Purchased this product for a new pistol. Great for target practice!
High quality high performance ammo. Not cheap but no solid copper rounds are. Low recoil in my S&W Cheifs Special due to light bullet weight. Only punched paper with it but due to the construction I'm sure it will be good defense ammo. And no lead for indoor shooters.
The ammunition itself is unbeatable, as well as the price. The shipping is also super fast and free, love this website
These bullets shot very nice! I was target practicing with some bullets that were made from magtech which I will never buy again because they caused my gun to mis fire. I immediately started blaming the gun, but someone told me try the other bullets. So, I put these bullets in and I was able to finish practicing and the gun has been working just fine with these bullets. I would highly recommend.
Throughout my time as a deputy sheriff and detective I have fired approximately 1,500 rounds in Federal .357 SIG full metal jacket form and I have never had one issue in performance. Absolutely no failures to fire, failures to eject, failures to feed, or anything else and no issues with quality of components. During my time as a law enforcement officer I became aware of the power and performance of the .357 SIG and decided to make it my personal defense caliber. When on duty I use .40 S&W but ... .357 SIG is my choice and I do have conversion barrels for my .40 S&W pistols. My preference is to use Federal as my .357 SIG training ammunition but is its not available or affordable I use .40 S&W to train. Of course I’d much prefer the price per round to go down and be more affordable for training and testing your weapons of choice but Federal does great in providing us with good quality defense ammunition. This load fully functions and cycles in my duty issued Glock 22, my backup piece Glock 27 and also my personal Glock 23 and 35 with conversion barrels.
Shoots good with moderate recoil from my Shield. Excellent concept to produce much cheaper training ammo that has the same ballistics as the personal defense ammo which is really expensive to shoot to get proficient. I'll buy more.
This SIG's performance of a 10MM 180 grain at @1250 FPS is AWSOME!!! It's a hair line shy of the original Norma Specs of 1300 FPS. So far, 200 rounds and I haven't experienced a failure with this ammo in my RIA 1911 A2 16rd. Consistent in every shot. A while back, they were on sale for $20 and had I known the quality; I would have bought out the store but Academy Sports had ran out and for good reason.
Bought this for the fact that the ballistics claim 1250 FPS, which is just a tick over the original 10mm Auto specs (180gr @ 1200fps) and the price is quite a bit LESS than your average "down loaded" 10mm that is 40 S&W in a longer case. I fired one magazine (15) of these in my G20 with a long LWD barrel, and BOY! You notice it is REAL 10mm! Not a harsh recoil, but you can feel the difference between the weak stuff and the Sig Elite. VERY ACCURATE at 10 yds, my son used the table as a rest and ... had one ragged hole. Seems like consistent loadings. Here's the culprit we used to test the Sig Elite>>>
I have used this ammunition since the 90s where it was the issue ammunition of the Police Dept I worked for. It is great ammo, very reliable but the Federal HST is a newer more impressive round but with either I would feel very comfortable using it in a self defense situation.
Awesome product with free shipping. Definitely cheaper price than I could find elsewhere.
I love the 44spl. Bulldog! Great stopping power, and very manageable recoil, for most folks. Perfect load for defense personal or home.
All is well, performed as advertised, no problems.
Haven't Shot any yet , But they look like good ammo and should shoot fine
