Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very aturdy Picked this thing up on sale from Academy's Sports. I used it twice and it isn't very sturdy as it is very V shaped and skinny. It cuts through the water nicely but I wouldn't recommend it for leisure use. I'm 6'0" and 210lbs. I flipped mine this past weekend, luckily in a shallow area. You get what you pay for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They're okay... I bought two of these for the fourth of July so that my kids and I could go out on the lake all day. These boat are very squirrelly, I don't recommend them for a younger person that doesn't swim well. I have been kayaking for years and bought mine from another place and I don't have those issues. Its the same length, however I believe these to be a little more narrow. Thus, the possible tip over at every turn...not good for bumper boats either. Don't get me wrong, they are a great price, but they are better for the more experienced kayaker that is equipped to maneuver, not a newbie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy for the money We bought this kayak yesterday and took it out on the Lampasas River. Once you are in the boat it is great. It paddles up stream and down easily. It maneuvers good. The only problem we had was getting in and out of the boat. It is very tippy. I have an old pelican sit in that is very similar and have no problems but with this boat both my son and I had problems getting in and out. If someone steadies the boat it makes it much easier. The small hold also takes on water. My son weighs 260lbs and the boat rode low but he liked it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great kayak for price! This is my 4th kayak and I really enjoy it. I'm a larger guy at the moment but it handles well In lakes and slow rivers. I weigh 285 lbs and I am able to get In and out of the kayak alone without a wipeout! Haha. It's pretty stable and lightweight for me. I have taken it out a few times with my dog and a few beers! Really enjoying it this summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ton of Fun I bought this kayak this weekend and had it on the water the next day. A total blast. I did not have any of the leak issues around the foot-pegs. Perhaps Penguin fixed that. I'm a newbie to this, but had no issues with stability or getting around. It is quite intuitive. I will be adding some modifications to make it better for fishing. I recommend an anchor if you will be fishing in current. BTW, use a screwdriver to take the rubber drain stopper out if you have problems. Mine was hard to pull up and I ended up breaking it (took a solid hour to fix what I did).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Kayak! I bought this kayak four years ago and it has been great! The weight limit says 250 but when my wife flipped out of her kayak she jumped on mine, which had a substantial amount of water inside and I was able to paddle us both back to shore and stay afloat! The only thing is the compartment that holds your items isn't waterproof so I don't advise you put a cell phone, car keys or wallet back there and if you do keep them stored in a sealed bag.! If you are a first time buyer, you will not ever regret purchasing a kayak!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little kayak This is my third kayak. My first one was a solo sit-in 14' that was fast, but still in the recreational category. The second was a tandem sit-on 12' that my daughter and I used. After taking a hiatus for a few years from kayaking, I finally decided to get back into it, so I bought this one recently. The Summit is a fun little boat. I find it to be highly maneuverable and pretty quick for a 10'. With its 28 inch-wide hull, it's possible to get some good speed, but it will certainly lose forward momentum quicker than a longer boat. The Summit is great for running around in bayous and shallow, slow water. The cockpit is open and spacious, so there's plenty of leg room for a 6' guy like me. But since the opening is so long, the cup-holder out front might be a stretch for shorter people. The so-called dashboard is an interesting concept, thought I'm not sure what it's for. My only real complaints -- hence 4 stars instead of 5 -- are: 1) The bungee cord over the rear hatch popped out the first time I opened to store a water bottle. It popped back in with a push, but I doubt it will stay long. 2) The cockpit seals off the aft section behind the seat so the only storage is the little rear compartment and whatever remains in front of your feat. I would recommend this boat to a beginner as long as the price is below $200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Owned for about 3 years now It is very stable in the water. Easy to get fast speeds. I like that in cold weather you don't get wet. (I use the sit on kayak also available at Academy when it is warm and I want to get wet.) This one stores turned upside down at the dock in sunlight now for years and has not faded. The plug came out and got lost, but I was able to replace it. Good that it drains as when we get floods, since I tie it down, it doesn't float away, but gets water logged and would be hard to drain without that plug. It is heavy for me (60+ femaile) but so far, I manage. Other kayaks are lighter. Generous amount of room for legs and other items. The length helps with stability. Seat cushion shows no sign of aging either. Very durable. I like to put my feet on the top to relax and lay back for a change of position while kayaking.
