What should I wear to go running?
Believe it or not, there are certain clothes that perform better than others for running. One key characteristic to look for is fabric with wicking capabilities. This kind of fabric is ideal for running (and lots of other sports) because it has the ability to move moisture away from your skin to the outer surface of the clothing where it can then evaporate. That way you stay dry and comfy and you'll want to run another mile or two.
Here are some of the technologies to look for when choosing running gear:
Champion® Double Dry
A unique two-layer construction moves moisture from the first layer of fabric to the second layer and prevents it from coming back. The inner layer consists of fine filaments which use capillary action to wick moisture away from your skin. Moisture moves from the inner layer to the outer layer, where it quickly evaporates. The result is a drier and more comfortable feeling both during and after a workout.
Insport CoolMax™
Dupont® CoolMax™ is a four channel fiber, providing maximum wicking capabilities. The grooved exterior creates 20% more surface area than ordinary fibers for quick drying, maximizing the efficiency of the body’s natural cooling system.
Nike Dri-FIT®
Unique properties of the microfiber material enable it to transport moisture away from the body to the surface of the fabric where it dries quickly, keeping the body temperature in balance.
Reebok Hydromove®
Represents a unique generation of performance fabrics utilizing thermo regulatory action, providing the athlete with maximum comfort in all seasons. In cooler weather, Hydromove® retains heat by creating a layer of 100% humidity between the skin and the fabric. Hydromove® adjusts its performance to trap more heat and moisture in cold weather, and less in cool weather.
